No Freedom

I was in the hospital for almost two weeks until Dr. Drevits said that the infection was gone and I was cleared to go home. Only I didn’t have a home and my drug-running husband who had let his brother kidnap me was still running free. So guess where I got to stay? Yep, a so-called safe house. All it was was a room at a hotel granted it was a suite in a fancy-ish hotel. I of course got the bedroom, but the officers guarding me had to fight over who got the cot or the couch. They also had an officer posing as a front desk clerk so they could watch who came in and left. The only bad thing about this place is that I wasn’t allowed to leave, of course, or order room service. I’m dying for a juicy cheeseburger. I have to ask them like a little kid if I can have this nice juicy cheeseburger.

But on to other things I’m still having nightmares. Dr. Drevits thinks I should see a psychiatrist. He believes that will help me with the nightmares. Detective Lancaster thinks that they are getting closer to finding out where Noah is hiding. Which is a big relief. Unfortunately, they haven’t found Lacy yet they do believe she is dead. They checked the court records and there was no divorce on file for Caleb and Lacy. Caleb isn’t being any help, in any case, meaning he is keeping tight-lipped, he knows what’s

at stake if he talks in any case. Being one of the sons of the Reza drug lord. That’s who is more than likely hiding Noah from the detectives.

Granted, if that’s the case, then there is no way they can get to him and I won’t be able to move on with my life. The police can’t watch me all the time. They have jobs and families to get on with. You guessed it, I’m being put in witness protection since my soon-to-be ex-husband is the son of a drug lord. Relocated with a new identity, new everything. It’s a whole new me. I get to choose my new name so I go with Aria Fitzgerald and I’m fixing to turn twenty-eight years old next week. They moved me from my nice warm/humid home to Phoenix, Arizona. Still warm, just dry heat, no real humidity here to frizz my hair. They also set me up as a college student with off-campus housing with just one rule “No roommates,” Considering the FBI was flipping the bill on it all they were even paying for me to go to college. They were paying for everything except my necessities. So I can’t really bitch about the no roommate thing. Hell, I had no place to bitch about anything. They are keeping me alive and getting me back on my feet.

After everything that I had been through I decided to study Law so I could help other women that have been kidnapped, beaten, and tortured. It took me a few days to get used to my new name and settle down into my new life. The only thing I couldn’t stop doing was looking over my shoulder. Every day I went a different way to school, the coffee shop where I worked, even home so no one would know

my routine. I even signed up to do virtual yoga in the mornings plus on days where I have off from work and school I go out and see what Phoenix has to offer. I have fallen in love with their Arts and Culture especially their culture with their Mexican and Native American influences. And the landscape here is so beautiful with the mountains and deserts it’s so breathtaking. I try to go hiking every weekend of course I have my entourage following close behind for my safety until Noah is caught. But I don’t think I’ll ever be safe knowing that I helped put the Reza sons in federal prison.

What started out as a cry for help from being kidnapped, turned into helping take down a drug cartel. So yea, I’m going to enjoy this new life of mine even if I have a security cartel watching my every move.
