16. Rouges

EVA POV

I found a thick man near a desk. He seemed like a coordinator. I went straight to him and put a few bills on the table. He rose his head and looked at me.

"Who?" he asked on which fighter we were keeping that money.

"Billy Bones", Jake said standing beside me. That thick man looked at us for a moment expressionless.

"What do you want?" he asked. I didn't understand how I was supposed to answer.

"I know your kind. What do you want?" he asked. For a second I panicked. Humans didn't know the existence of supernatural species and we were supposed to keep it that way. Few from the underworld were aware of us and never involved in our business. If any ever did, they would face the consequences.

"Adam Grace", Jake said.

"Why?" he asked.

"Doesn't matter to you", I said.

"Then leave", he said. "By the way, I'm keeping these for Billy," he said taking the bills I gave before.

I walked ahead into the people. I leaned on the bar counter in a corner. People cheering for fighters.
