Chapter 3: Hard Life

____ SIX YEARS LATER___

"Mom, Henry is using his superpowers!" Liam, the first of Braelyn's triplet suddenly yelled and completing his words, Henry flew into the room happily using his superpower.

Sage, the only female and last of Braelyn's triplet ran toward Henry in the blink of an eye with her superpower and tried to pull Henry down.

"Mom said, we can only use our superpower in the evening." She scolded which alerted the attention of Braelyn who was just coming out of her room, dressed in her work outfit.

"Exactly, young man. Why are you flying around the room…"

"I already told you, you three have exceptional power and if you were caught by the council, they could use you as an experiment." Henry quietly mimicked Braelyn silently as she scolded him with arms-akimbo.

Henry, the second twin, made a face to the other triplet, Sage and Liam who snitched on him before he finally faked a pitiful expression.

Henry ran into Braelyn's hold and hugged her tightly while faking crocodile tears. "Mom, it's not my fault. The superpower wanted to be let out itself." Henry quickly lied while batting his eyes innocently which made Braelyn's heart softened.

"Henry, this isn't even the time our superpower hurts for freedom." Liam yelled out in exasperation before Braelyn could be tricked by Henry's devilishness.

Upon remembering that, Braelyn knew that her mischievous son was about to trick her again, so without warning, she flicked his forehead which made him pout. However, she kept a straight facade and pointed at the chair

"So you little triplet, will sit on the chair obediently while mom prepares your breakfast." Braelyn said and tried to return to the kitchen but before she could, Henry grabbed a hold of her hand and feigned sadness.

Henry touched his forehead and pouted, faking sadness, "Mom, it hurts. Quickly kiss my forehead." Henry purposely exaggerated by wincing loudly and batting his eyelashes.

Braelyn shook her head at her son's antics. Still, she bent slightly and kissed him which made him giggle loudly.

Before she could straighten her back, Sage and Liam also touched their cheeks, demanding for a kiss. Braelyn smiled before she kissed them. "Now. Off you go."

Braelyn stood up and began to make her way to the kitchen. She had just taken a few steps when a loud alarm rang in the house.

Braelyn's eyes widened slightly, she quickly checked her time only to see that she was late yet she hadn't even prepared the triplet's meals. "Oh my Goodness! We're going to be so late." She yelled out and ran into the kitchen.

"Mom, can we not be late?" Liam whined which made her sigh.

"I'll try, baby." Braelyn replied and quickly opened the fridge only to be stared at by emptiness. 

"We have nothing in the house either. That's great! Everything is against me this morning" Braelyn yelled in anger and returned to the sitting room.

In the sitting room, the triplets were watching the TV but once they saw Braelyn, they all stretched their hands toward her to carry them.

"Mom. Mom."

Braelyn walked toward them and kissed their foreheads and cheeks. "I'm sorry babies, we have nothing at home, I need to go to the supermarket quickly, okay?" Braelyn said gently.

"So we'll be late for school?" Henry, Sage, and Liam turned to her with innocent puppy eyes.

Braelyn's heart melted at their cute expression but she couldn't even push herself to tell the truth that they would be late because of her forgetfulness.

Sage grabbed Braelyn's heart eagerly as if she knew what Braelyn's dilemma was, "Mom, why don't we use our superpowers? I can run to the mall and return in a blink of an eye. Or Henry could fly. Liam could also disappear." Sage tried to convince which made Braelyn sigh.

"No. No. I already told you, you three have exceptional power and if you were caught by the council's CCTV, they could use you as an experiment." Braelyn tried to say fiercely but they only looked at her with an adorable nonchalance which made her sigh.

The kids were too smart and fearless for their age.

"Never mind. Mom will go." Braelyn said and picked up her bag.

"Mom, take me along." Liam, grabbed a hold of her hand and batted his eyes at her in order to convince her.

"Mom, take me too." Sage also stretched her hand toward Braelyn.

Braelyn was overwhelmed by the overload of cuteness, but she was still able to snap out of it knowing that the best way to go and return from shopping quickly is without the triplet going along with her. The triplet would make her shopping slower due to wanting to buy things and she was late for work.

Liam parted his beautiful lips, "Mom…"

"No. No. No!" Braelyn rejected them with a smile and ruffled their hair.

The triplets opened their lips to protest but Braelyn was faster. "I'm leaving for the supermarket. I'll be back in a few minutes. Be good and wait for me." Braelyn uttered and the triplet nodded gently.

"Okay, I'm leaving!" Braelyn said. She picked up her shoes and quickly locked the door and then pocketed the keys as she left for the supermarket.

Six years ago, Braelyn had left White Flake Pack due to the embarrassment that followed sleeping with Cedric, unknown to her that the one-night-stand would lead to the triplet pregnancy.

Not only does that bastard steal her first, but he indirectly stamped his claim on her.

And the triplet she gave birth to were powerful and intelligent kids who have magical powers that had never been seen before in the whole werewolf tribe. 

Sage can run faster than any creature, Henry can fly, Liam can disappear and appear when he likes which is a huge temptation.

If any of the city members ever know about the triplet's power, Braelyn knows they won't hesitate to contact the council which will lead to experimenting her triplet on how they developed their ability which was the reason she prevented them from using it until Braelyn has the sufficient power to protect them.

Life in the city was hard for Braelyn who had always enjoyed the pack rights. Here in the city, she had to work for everything she wants, unlike the pack where you tend to enjoy some rights as a pack member.

Braelyn was at her wit's end when she met Manager Leo. Manager Leo had let her work in the restaurant, he gave her meals to eat and offered her a place to stay until she was able to rent her own apartment.

Although Braelyn knew that Manager Leo wouldn't chide her, Braelyn wasn't the type to slack off during work.

Besides, Manager Leo was a big helper to her and the triplet, she can't bear to work poorly.

Braelyn packed all she had just bought in front of the cashier with relief. Thankfully, the line wasn't long today.

She quickly left the supermarket in the hope of preparing the triplet's meals, taking them to school, and going to work.

"Ahhh!" Braelyn cried out as a masked figure collided with her, which resulted in her falling to the floor with her butt.

Braelyn's eyes widened as she remembered something. "This masked figure was the same person who collided with me on my way to the club six years ago." She was sure of it!

He had left without apologizing to her back then, does he think he can do the same again?

"Hey!" Braelyn stood up and immediately ran after the masked man. She doesn't understand how someone can hit her twice without apologizing.

"Hey. stop there!" Braelyn yelled loudly as she followed after the masked man in anger.

Soon, they were both on a busy street and that's where Braelyn lost sight of him.

"Damn!" Braelyn stomped her foot in anger.

She turned back and looked at her surroundings only to discover that she had walked quite a distance away from her house.

"Shit! I am late!" Braelyn cursed and began to run back to her apartment.

That damn mask man! Braelyn hoped she never came across him or else she'd strangle him to death.

Braelyn began to climb the familiar stairs when she saw that the elevator was still running, and soon she arrived at her apartment with a pant.

Braelyn lived in an apartment that wasn't too costly nor too expensive in a decent community.

Braelyn wanted her triplet to be raised in a decent and good way, so she would do anything that would prevent her kids from blackening like their evil father, Cedric.
