P E A R L

The feel of cold air on my back made me shiver and groan. Sleep was moving its way out of me but I was not ready for that. I needed more sleep as I could still feel tiredness from the night before in me. At that, I got confused, wondering why I was not hearing the noises and chatter of people walking outside my dorm room. I didn’t hear the footsteps of the room above mine and it made me wonder where I was as I forced sleep out of my body.

I opened my eyes and saw white sheets and a pillow. This was not my room and the bed extended farther than my single bed. It made me even more awake. I rolled over and sat up then looked around the expanse of the room. It was huge, probably the size of three dorm rooms put together with large windows and three doors. Sitting on the bed made me feel so small inside the room. Never have I seen such a big space and it was so expensive too.
