Who's she? And why's she after me?

EDWIN'S POV

It's been a week since Miranda started working for me, and she was doing her job perfectly, except for the fact that she was extremely rude.

“I'm done with these sirs,” She said as she dropped the file on the desk and then walked back to her seat.

My office door immediately flung open and Serene walked in, along with Grace, who was trailing behind her.

“I am sorry, sir, she wouldn't listen to me,” Grace said.

“Out!” I said, without sparing her a glance.

“Hey, prince charming,” Serene said as she approached me.

“What do you want?” I asked strictly.

“Can't I visit you?” Serene asked, but I said nothing, then she sat down.

“Who's she?” Serene asked, referring to Miranda, who was busy going through some files.

“She's my new personal assistant,” I said, trying my best to keep my cool.

”Wow, so you've got yourself a female personal assistant, so great,” Serene said sarcastically, glaring at Miranda.

“You know that shouldn't be your problem,” I simply replied.

“Why don't you employ a male in her position, I don't like her, she'll be so close to you,” Serene grumbled and I scoffed.

“Hey, you!” Serene yelled. I know she was talking to Miranda, who acted as though she was invincible.

“I believe you heard me loud and clear,” Serene called out to Miranda again.

“Hi,” Miranda replied, surprising me, I thought she was going to yell at Serene.

“Is that how to greet your employer's fiancé?” Serene questioned. Here she goes again, crossing the line.

“Serene don't!” I said to her, knowing fully well she was trying to create a scene.

“Hi Serene, I am Miranda, your fiancé's new personal assistant,” Miranda said with a slight smile on her face before going back to what she was doing.

“She's not my fiancée,” I said, trying to make things clear.

Miranda didn't even bother to respond, she was hellbent on finishing the paperwork I gave her.

“I'm your fiancée, Edwin,” Serene said, then she stood up, walking over to Miranda.

“Miranda or whatever you call yourself, this should be the last time I see you here. Your services are no longer needed, so you should better start packing your things out,” Serene said seriously as she stood before Miranda.

I wanted to say something, but on second thought, I waited to see Miranda's reaction.

Miranda didn't say a word, she acted like no one was talking to her, as she kept on going through the files and documenting things.

“I am talking to you!” Serene yelled angrily.

“This is an office, ma'am. Not a brothel where you yell at your workers, if you want to yell at someone, you should kindly go to the market and stop making a scene!” Miranda said calmly and went back to what she was doing.

I could notice the threat in what they said, Serena Should better stop before things get out of control.

“Did you just see that, huh?” Serene asked with a loud scoff. I guess she was wondering where Miranda got such guts from.

“Serene stop trying to make a scene,” I said tiredly.

“This thing here has to quit her job right now, else........” She stopped halfway as she was interrupted by Miranda.

“You've overstayed your welcome ma'am, we only entertain business officials for this long, not some kind of nuisance, if you don't mind, you can kindly use the door,” Miranda said with no expression on her face.

“What right do you have to ask me out of my fiancé's office!” Serene barked, she was boiling in rage, I bet she'll lose it soon.

Miranda simply walked up to my desk and pressed a red button by the side.

“This right,” She said, and two security guards immediately walked in. Miranda had called for security.

“Please take her out, she's a nuisance,” Miranda said to the guards.

“Yes ma'am,” They replied hurriedly as they walked towards Serene.

“Edwin! You're not saying anything, you should stop her,” Serene said, as she stared at the guards, but I kept quiet, she deserves what she's getting.

“Ma'am, this way,” One of the guards said.

Serene angrily looked at me, she grabbed her bag and then dashed out, and the security guards followed behind.

Miranda went back to her sit to continue with what she was doing.

“Tough right?” I asked and she looked up at me.

“I don't understand,” She replied.

“Go back to your work,” I simply replied, and she kept mute.

The place was silent for some minutes before I broke the silence. It was already time for lunch, but she was still working.

“Won't you go out for lunch?” I asked. Not knowing why I did.

“I will,” She replied.

“It's almost closing hours, and you haven't eaten yet,” I said, trying to start a conversation.

It has called to my notice that she hardly goes out for lunch, she's always in the office going through files and also documenting things in her note…

“Mark got me something earlier, you were not around then,” She said

“We're done for today,” I said.

“Why? It isn't closing hours yet,” She replied adamantly.

“I said we're done,” I replied sternly, then she stood and packed up the files, as she shoved them back into their shelves, picked up her bag and car key, and she walked out, without even saying goodbye.

“Rude brat." I cursed under my breath.

Confirming she had left, I stood up and walked over to the wall, pressed a button, and the wall divided into two, making way for me to go into my secret lodge.

I walked in and took off my shirt, making my hard chest visible. I took off my clothes and went into the bathroom for a quick shower.

“Miranda,” Her name was the first thing that came to my mind. I wasn't stupid to say I trusted her completely, and neither did I give her important files to work on, I knew she was up to no good.

But the question is. “Who is she? And why is she after me?'
