His rules

MIRANDA'S POV

Next day…

I was so happy that my plan worked out, just as planned. I've already informed Maxwell about how it went, and that I'll be resuming work today.

I was done applying my light make – up on.

It was just 7:30 am. I wanted to be early on my first day to work.

“Nice!.” I said to myself as I admired myself in the mirror.

I picked up my purse and my car keys and walked out.

I got into my car and zoomed off.

A few minutes later, I got to the company pretty fast than expected, I guess I was excited.

I took the elevator to the top floor and slowly walked over to the CEO'S office, as confident as I could ever be.

“Sorry, ma'am, the CEO has not arrived,” A lady said to me as she approached me. From the way she looked, she seemed to be his secretary.

“And you are?” I asked her, knowing fully well that she wasn't pleased to see me here.

“I am his secretary,” She replied boldly.

Wow! She had guts, it made her interesting.

“Well, I'll just wait for him in his office,” I said, and I made to leave.

“No ma'am, you can't go in,” She said as she held my arm stopping me from going in.

“I heard you pretty loud and clear!” I said ranking her hands off me, in an attempt to go in.

“Are you deaf or something!” She barked and she pushed me back.

“This bitch got nerves,” I thought as I smirked, someone is going to go down if she doesn't behave well.

“You wouldn't want me to react to this because you won't like my reaction,” I said with a slight smile.

“If you can't wait for him in the reception, you can take your fat ass out of this place!” She said daringly, it was as if she had hated me from the start.

This whole shenanigan had to stop.

“One more word from you and I will cut off your tongue, bitch,” I said calmly, the beast in me hasn't been let loose yet.

“Bitch? You're the real bitch here for barging in on me,” She stated fearlessly, looking at me eyeball to eyeball.

Okay, she had pushed me to my limits. Immediately I replied to her with a thunderous slap which landed her on the floor.

Rule number one, don't mess with Miranda.

She quickly stood up, and she made to hit me back when a voice interrupted.

“Stop this nonsense, both of you!” Edwin said as he walked towards us.

“Leave!” He said to his secretary.

“But sir.....! She trailed off as Edwin interrupted her.

“She's my new personal assistant, you shouldn't have treated her cruelly,” He said as he stared at me hatefully. Then she left without saying anything.

“Come with me,” Edwin said, and we both walked into his office.

“You need to teach your secretary some manners,” I said as I sat down.

“Why did you do to her?” Edwin asked, as he dropped his briefcase, then sat down.

“Nothing, just teaching her some manners, obviously she lacked some,” I replied as I opened my purse, chewing the gum I had in it. Edwin said nothing after that.

It was becoming a little bit boring since we were both silent, something I hated to the core.

“So how can I be of help?” I asked, noticing he'd been working on some files.

“We have a meeting to attend in the next thirty minutes, get these files ready for the meeting.” He said, shoving the file to the front desk.

I walked over to his table and picked up the file.

I sat down and started setting the file ready.

It was a presentation he had to make with a company to secure a deal with them, and they'll merge into an alliance, this could get Maxwell in trouble since it was his target company.

I quickly shoved my worries aside, arranged the files gently, and kept them inside his briefcase which I covered gently.

“All done sir,” I said with a smile, even though my mind wasn't at ease.

“Get me coffee to drink miss,” He said to me, not taking his eyes off his laptop for a moment.

I walked over to the coffee tank and fetched him coffee.

“Here you go sir,” I handed over the cup of coffee to him.

“I'll be sure to give you rules as you are to work with me,” He started as he collected the cup from me.

“Rule number one, you should always dress decent, not like a stripper at some bar.” He said, and I mentally scoffed, for crying out loud, it was my signature dressing.

“Does he mean that I mean I look attractive in whatever I wear?” My subconscious mind couldn't help but imagine.

“It isn't my fault that I look good in anything,” I almost voiced out, but I restricted myself.

“Rule number two, you can't fight with a staff, it's forbidden here, and it's not going to be taken lightly by me!” He said, not taking his eyes off his laptop as he sipped the coffee.

“She asked for it, she was the rude one here,” I wanted to speak, yet again I didn't.

“Rule number three, if you are going to work for me, you should better know your position and know your boundaries,” Edwin stated with finality.

“Rule number four…!.”He trailed off and finally glanced at me.

“Dating a staff here is highly prohibited, it is against our company's logic,” He said, and his eyes immediately focused on his laptop once more.

“What's that supposed to mean, sir?” I couldn't help but ask, this is indeed torture for his workers.

What does he mean by I can't date any of the workers here? Does he think I am kind of into him?

Fine, I get the fact that he is all charismatic, rich, and whatever. But I know the reason for coming here and one of them was not because of him, or his good-looking face.

“What I am trying to say is that none of my staff should think of dating me,” He said with so much ego, that I felt like hitting him.

“Well, only a blind bat would fall in love with you,” I said gently, trying to keep my cool, he shouldn't get me started, this was just a little tip on what I could do.

He looked at me for some time and went back to what he was doing. Ignoring me.

“It's time for your meeting sir,” I said to him after checking my wristwatch, it was thirty minutes already.

He closed his laptop and stood up.

“Keep my laptop in its bag and bring the files along with you,” He said and walked out.
