Chapter 22
Michelle Cheney Hi lovelies, so sorry it’s taken a while for an update. I have been going through the moving process which I am still not completely moved into the new home and I also went back to work after being a stay at home mom for the last 18 years. This book is almost at its ending so please be patient with me as I get the last few chapters written.

BROOKS After I got off the phone with Seth, I checked on Crystal. I told her I was going to make us salads for dinner. I headed into the kitchen and began to make them. I put 2 different kinds of dressing on the tray because I wasn't sure which one Crystal would want to use tonight. I grabbed the tray and headed back into the bedroom. I placed the tray on the bed and sat down. We began eating while watching TV. I noticed Crystal was taking her time eating and I asked if she was ok. "Oh, yeah I'm fine baby." CRYSTAL I have been here for an hour now and the nurse who just came in to check me said I was only dilated to 4cm. The doctor asked if I wanted something for the pain but I told her no. I decided after our accident that I didn't want anything for the pain. I barely took my medicine when I had the broken wrist and leg and I managed through the pain then so I didn't feel like I would need it for giving birth. After another hour of laying there, the doctor came in and checked me. She told me that I had dilated to 6cm and things would probably progress pretty quickly now. I pray they do because these contractions hurt like hell! I was able to find a comfortable position to lay in for a while before the pain hit again. I looked up at the clock and saw that I had been here for almost 3 hours and still no baby boy. Another nurse came in and said she was going to check my progression and the look on her face as she took her glove off told me I must not have dilated much. She told us that

CRYSTALI woke up with Brooks's hand still on my stomach. I smiled and gently lifted his arm to go use the bathroom. When I finished my business, I jumped in the shower. As I stepped out of the shower Brooks was standing in the bathroom doorway. He was just standing there smiling. BROOKSI got up and Crystal and Jonah were still asleep so I took a shower. When I got out, I woke Crystal up and told her to get ready to go eat breakfast. CRYSTAL Seeing them both with tears warms my heart. I knew that they had to have been having a very deep heart to heart and I am proud of Brooks for trying to be there for Jonah. I am proud of Brooks for all the effort he has been putting in since I gave him a second chance and I cannot wait until I say I do and get to spend the rest of my life with him. I put the steaks in the fridge so they could marinate before being out on the grill. I cleaned up my mess on the counter and then went and sat on the couch next to Brooks while he and Jonah played a football game. When they finished their game, I went back into the kitchen and began prepping the sides for dinner. I cleaned the potatoes, peeled them, and cut them up. I then put them in the pot to boil. I got the ears of corn out and shucked them. After cleaning the corn, I put them in foil to place on the grill. I prepared the glaze for the carrots and put them in a dish to go in the oven. BROOKS I don't know why I didn't want to go home after taking Jonah off but I just felt like going somewhere else. I found this place right after I got home from the military and I haven't been back since I found it. I think we both just need some peace and beautiful scenery. CRYSTALIt's been 2 weeks since Brooks and I made love by the lake. Since then I have felt a closer connection to him than I had before.
