Got the Job

In the morning, when Hayan opened his eyes, first he saw the innocent face of his sleeping daughter. Her one hand was placed on her cheek. Hayan smiled, for a few moments he kept staring silently at her. From the expression on her face, he can guess she was sitting the whole night with him.

"Raamen…" He called her lovingly and Raamen, on his voice, raised her head with a jerk. With red eyes, she was looking at him and then suddenly she hugged him.

"Dad…." Suddenly she burst into tears like a child. Hayan smiled and wrapped his arm around her.

"Life of dad, did you miss your dad? Have you lost your stubbornness?" He complained and Raamen moved her head in yearning.

"I'm sorry Dad, I'm really sorry, I can't live without you. Dad, if something happens to you, I will finish my life." In a tearful voice, she said and fell her head on his chest.

"Sshhh…. don't say like that. Nothing can happen to your dad until your prayers are with him." He said, stroking her hair. Crying, Raamen nodded her head.

"Who was that man who saved your life?" She asked, kissing his hand. Hayan looked at her lovingly.

"I don't know him. From his appearance, he seemed like some poor guy, but I couldn't see his face." Hayan remembered Hadid's back appeared in an odourless shirt and his black eyes were visible in the mirror.

"Assalamualaikum (greetings)." Raamen was about to open her mouth to ask something more when she heard the voices of Jawad and Zeeshan greeting her back.

"Waliakum salam (greetings back)." Hayan smiled and greeted Jawad back as he looked at him.

"How are you feeling now?" Jawad asked as he sat on the sofa in front of him and Zeeshan put the bouquet on his side table of bed.

"Get well soon, uncle," Zeeshan said smiling at him and Hayan smiled nodding his head.

"Raamen, now you go home with Zeeshan. Get fresh and take some rest, be my good girl." Hayan told Raamen while looking at Jawad. Despite her constant no, finally, she stood up because of her father's further persistence. Zeeshan also stood up with her.

"You leave, I can go by myself." After coming out of the room she said with a scoffed face and left. Zeeshan just ended up glaring at her back.

"Hayan, I think this is the right time we can do Raamen and Zeeshan nikkah. And considering your state, she won't oppose it." As they left, Jawad turned towards Hayan and told him. Hayan exhaled a long cold breath and summoned the courage to speak.

"Hayan, I feel my daughter is telling the truth. Someone conspired against us and they did great cleverness by taking my daughter in his nikkah. Then they decided to kill me so that when I die, he would claim my daughter and her property." Hayan put forward his stance after thinking for a long time. Jawad looked at him. No doubt, his stance carries weight.

"Today his plan would have succeeded if that guy didn't put his life at stake to save me. My enemies would have celebrated their achievement." Hayan's voice was clasped in an unknown fear. He was very thankful to that boy who turned out to be the saviour of his life by giving him a new life.

"But Hayan, who can do this? Think about it, who are these enemies? He seems very clever and fast. If things kept on going like that then no one could stop him from his plan turning successful. For example, if he doesn't do the second attack on you then may it not happen that Raamen becomes the target of his second attack or whether he kidnaps her or does any cheap act. If a man can stop so low then it's not a big deal for him." The way Jawad drew the map of the future forced Hayan to shiver down to his soul.

"It can't happen, no one can raise their eyes to look at my daughter. I will take his life." He retorted in a furious tone.

"Whoever he is, he came to your home by forcing Raamen to sign a nikkah agreement and here you are saying no one can raise his eye at her." Jawad's sarcastic remarks made Hayan clench his lips.

"OK, I am going now. I have an important meeting. Take care of yourself." Jawad left and Hayan stared at his back with a helpless look, thinking about his daughter.

'How much pain she would have gone through when none of us believed in her. I'm sorry Raamen. I felt it when it happened to me. I'm really sorry.'

In his imagination, he was addressing his innocent and beautiful daughter, asking her forgiveness.

*************

After getting tired of one month of constant joblessness, he sold the bike and paid 5000 rupees to Danial and paid the remaining money to the preacher by telling him that he got his first salary.

At first, he was irked by receiving that less amount, but then he assured himself after thinking that now he was on the job, he would also pay him back the remaining money.

Hadid gave some money to the laundry man to wash his clothes and then in the end he was left penniless.

"Hey buddy, give me a cup of tea." He said sitting on the chair in the hotel of his friend. Danial was aware of his wretched circumstances. He also knew that he sold his bike.

"So what did you think about the job? Are you getting one or not?" Danial came to him with two cups of tea. He pulled the chair, sitting in front of him.

"I'm not getting any yet. I went to a man, asking for the job. I told him it doesn't matter if the salary is low, you can raise it later on and then he asked me about my education, I told him I matriculated. He told me first you go and study further. He also told me to learn some manners. I told him I was talking in a manner and when I showed you my ill mannerism. In response, he told me your education is speaking clearly about your mannerisms. It means we people are illiterate. Those who don't have a degree are considered ill-mannered. How great!" As he completed his saying, he took the cup near to his lips.

"Haven't you told him anything back in his answer?" Danial was amazed at how he didn't react after facing such an insult.

"No, I let him go. I thought if I reacted then it would prove right what he told me." After finishing the tea, he asked for a cigarette from Danial and he handed him one.

"I told you so many times you should go to the city where you can easily get a job in the restaurant, but you don't listen to me. You should try to go. There are so many rich people and they will also give you, what it's called, yes tip, they will give you tip. Just think about it, there the food is so delicious and…" Hadid smacked him instantly before he could utter something more.

"It's because of your intent that you are still here and I can't do the job of the waiter. I will become a big man who will intimidate others." He was expressing his thoughts when Danial burst into laughter.

"This is your state. Look at your condition, you seem nothing less than a wild man. Look at your hair and how your beard and moustache have grown. You seem more like a thug, who…." His remaining words were left in his mouth when a black Mercedes stopped near the hotel. Two men wearing black suits came out of it.

"Who are they?" Danial stood up as he saw they were approaching them. Though Hadid didn't stand.

"Hadid, you have to go with us. Home minister wants to meet you." Both men stood in front of Hadid. All the naive people of neighbours gathered around them with astonished looks on their faces to see the men who were addressing Hadid.

"Why?" Hadid asked unknowingly.

"You will know, once you go there." One of the men told him and looked at Danial and then the people of the neighbours.

"Sorry, tell him if he is calling me to give a reward, I am not coming. I did all this out of humanity, not for some greed." After understanding their purpose of coming, he said taking a puff of a cigarette. Danial looked at him with a surprised face.

"Hey, are you insane? Foolish, you got such a good opportunity and you are declining it. Can't you see how badly you were kicked out of the job because you are uneducated? Now when you get the opportunity, you are showing humanity." Danial becomes furious over his foolish friend. Hadid just shook his head. On his denial, both guards looked at each other and contacted the home minister.

"Sir told me, he is not calling you for reward. He has some work with you." The guard informed him after hanging up the mobile. Hadid became confused and looked at Danial. While Danial grinned his teeth and pushed him towards the guards.

"You will know when you go there. Now go and come back rocking." He expressed happily. Hadid smiled, and went with the guards, sitting with them in the car.

The car was pulled out and in a few moments, it entered a magnificent mansion, stopping on its porch. He came out with these two men. Guards were standing in the surroundings. After seeing their get up, Hadid ran his hand on his thick beard.

He walked confidently with them, Upon entering inside he saw many bulky guards standing in a row.

"You stop here." One of them stopped Hadid and went inside. Hadid nodded his head while the other one stood with him.

"Sir, we brought that boy. Can I let him in?" Hayan was sitting in the lounge, talking with her daughter, when a guard taking permission, came inside.

"Yes, let him come inside." On his permission, the guard nodded his head and went outside. After a while, Hadid was standing in the lounge of the magnificent mansion.

Hadid looked around himself at the lounge. His eyes spotted Hayan sitting in front of him. He smiled.

"Assalamualaikum sir, how are you feeling now?" He asked coming near him.

Hayan looked into his black eyes and it didn't take him long to recognise him.

"I'm good now. After doing a favour on me, you didn't show up yourself." While responding to him, he also made a slight complaint. Hadid was astonished, and Raamen, who was sitting beside her father, also gazed at her father with a surprised look on her face.

"What do you mean Dad? Now you will complain to these third-class cheap people. Just throw the money on his face and kick him out." She scoffed as she looked at Hadid state. With a long and broad figure, wearing colourless paint and a shirt and worn-out shoes, she felt disgusted for him.

"What was the need of calling him here? You should send the money to the place from where you picked up this wild man." Hayan just shook his head in disagreement at his daughter's suggestion, as if he wanted to say, you won't stop.

Hadid, who was smiling and looking at Hayan, turned his neck at her after listening to her detested and hateful voice for himself. He saw her sitting on the sofa with crossed legs. She was wearing a short off-white shirt with black jeans. With her shoulder-cut golden hair and very fragile look having glass green eyes, he saw the doll was spewing thrones from her red petals-like lips.

After looking at Raamen, for a moment he fancied it was his dream. She seems the princess of a dream who came out of his dreams and was sitting in front of him. But after listening to poisonous and egoistic words from her lips, he believed she was the worst pampered and arrogant daughter of her rich father. Hadid felt very angry the way she addressed him.

"Sir, I have already told you whatever I did is out of humanity. I'm going now. Very thanks for calling me here and giving me that respect." He said, and after dropping an angry look at the glass-like, he turned around to go out.

"Stop Hadid, I didn't call you to give a reward, but I called you to give the job." He just took a second step when Hayan said quickly. Then he turned towards his daughter.

"Raamen, you go to your room. We will talk later on." On what her father said, Raamen dropped a discontented look at her father, then she glanced at the street boy.

"Too much Dad." She stomped her foot in anger, and expressing her displeasure, she left. Hayan looked at her furious daughter, who became angry for no reason.

After a month of continuous bed rest, when he felt sound and healthy, he was discharged from the hospital. In his first attempt, he ordered his men to bring the guy who saved his life.

As they found out complete information about that guy, he came to know he is a poor boy, who did matriculation, and nowadays he is in desperate search of a job.

He thought he would keep a guard for the safety of his daughter. So whenever his daughter went out somewhere be that university or meeting her friend, he would always be with her. In this way, he can also keep his daughter protected from those who are making plans against him. He wants someone who protects his daughter more than his life. He wants someone who would consider his job as his duty, and no matter what he never defies or goes against it.

He found all these qualities in this guy. During the past month, he imposed strict restrictions on Raamen. He didn't let her go out and kept her under strict security.

"I don't have any degree, sir." He turned around, standing in front of him.

"I know and I don't need your degrees." He said, making a smile. Hadid was astonished by the soft nature of this man as he heard these ministers are very harsh by nature, but the situation here is quite contrary to it. The home minister is offering a job to a poor and illiterate boy, how strange!

"Sir, all these things happen in movies? Do you like watching movies?" He asked mischievously, but his tone wasn't partnering him with his eyes.

"This also happens in the movies when an unknown person without caring about his life saves the life of another one. Do you also like watching movies?" Hayan retorted what he said earlier to him. Hadid smiled.

"Considering your abilities, I am offering you the job of a bodyguard. I want you to be my daughter's bodyguard. For that, I don't need your degrees. I want to give you this job because of your abilities and your humanity. I'm hopeful you won't deny it." He said smilingly which made Hadid surprised.

"The police were also suspecting me. According to them, I am the one who suddenly attacked you. And you are trusting me?" Hadid was shocked. Being a bodyguard of the home minister isn't something ordinary. He is a poor, street stalker, and thug kind of boy. His luck will shine in such a way, his astonishment can be justified.

"Don't worry. I fetched out complete information from your childhood till now, that's why I have trust in you. You are an orphan boy whose parents died in an accident in his childhood. And after that, where else you were living, what work you did, I know it. Your last job was in the house of a businessman as a guard and after your fight there you came to Karachi where you got a friend, Danial. He helped you in giving the room of the preacher on rent, the place where you are living now. In the constant search of finding a job, on that day you were going for an interview of the waiter when you had to stop because of the attack that happened in me and when I came out, you saved me from the bullet which was targeting me. You missed the interview because of me and you went back unsuccessfully. Now getting tired of your debts and rent, you sold your bike, am I right?" Hayan was sitting with crossed legs as he pressed the cigar between his lips. Hadid was gawking at him with a dumbfounded look.

"Then what do you say? Would you like to join the job of bodyguard? From yesterday on, from nine o'clock in the morning to eight o'clock in the night." Hayan told him suppressing his smile as he looked at his surprised face.

"When everything is fixed, then also tell me what's the salary package?" On his asking, Hayan laughed.

"Don't worry, it will be sufficient enough to keep your pocket full after your needs." He smiled and stood up. Now he has to discuss this with Jawad as well as convince his daughter.

After giving him the positive answer, Hadid went back happily. He has yet to tell this mind-blowing news to Danial and see his reaction.

"Listen…." He turned back after listening to Hayan's voice on his back.

"Yes…" Hadid looked at him with questioning eyes.

"My eyes are on you. Whoever tries to break my trust faces its worst result. I trust in you and keep up my trust in you." Hayan didn't forget to warn him in his solemn and cold voice. After assuring him, Hadid made his way out.

He came out standing with the guards to tell them to take him back to his place when the voice of Hayan was heard in the back.

"Go and take him back." The guards were amazed to see Hayan coming out for a boy who didn't look less than a thug.

"I live very far," Hadid said smiling at him and Hayan nodded his head.

"From yesterday on you will be given pick and drop." On his telling, Hadid shook his head in negative.

"If the pick and drop facility is available to all of your guards, then I don't have any problem. If it's specifically for me, then I am sorry, I won't take it. I will do my duty by myself and I will find a solution to my problem, I am going now." He left and Hayan, shaking his head, went towards the room of his daughter.
