The People Is One

Because of my rental's busted window, I tell everyone I hit a tree branch. A few hours later, we were called to the morgue, and my parents were supposedly decapitated by a large old tree slicing through their windshield. They allowed me to grieve with my family briefly, and then the police apprehended me.

The authorities need to know why I sent everyone I knew to the woods. They question me for hours, and I answer the same for hours. Now, I guess I'll be a suspect in my own parents' death. They finally locked me up. I sit watching everyone, and it seems everyone is united except me.

My family and pastors send lawyers, but I tell them I want to stay seventy-two hours. The police permitted me to stay, and then they put me out. I haven't bathed in three days, and I don't care. I take a cab to the airport and fly to the West Coast.
