CHAPTER 2

I then took a step back and waited for him to regain his composure with everyone else in the room stopping what they were doing and staring straight at us.

“What the fuck?” He yelled.

“It’s not nice being jumped. Is it?” I asked.

“Is this about that boy this morning?” He asked, holding his hand over his nose.

“No. This is about the girl this morning.” I said. And his face dropped. Now realizing that I knew who else he had attacked.

All of his friends had jumped back from the table, knowing that they couldn’t get into a fight with me unless they were willing to suffer the consequences. But I didn’t give a shit about that. I didn’t care that I was the next Alpha. If they wanted to try and gang up on me then I didn’t care in the least. But they weren’t game enough to do that.

So Jordan stood there knowing that he was on his own and he looked back at me, trying to find a way out of this and he started laughing.

“We were just messing around with that girl.” He said. And I started laughing.

“Wow. That’s so funny. Because that’s exactly what I’m doing right now. Having fun with you.” I said, as the smile wiped off my face.

I then spun around and kicked him in the center of the chest which lifted him off the ground and he landed on his back on the table that he was just sitting at.

He jumped back up and took a swing at me which I was able to dodge and I punched him in the ribs and kicked the back of his knee.

As he fell to his knees I grabbed him by the hair and I kneed him in the face and he fell back on the ground, groaning and moaning in pain.

A teacher finally appeared and got between the two of us and ordered us both to the office. Even though Jordan couldn’t get up straight away. His friends had to help him.

But I turned around and walked to the office without saying a word to anyone.

The nurse was called to come and take a look at him, and she determined that he did need to go to the hospital because his nose will start to set in the wrong place and the same with his ribs and cheek bone.

His parents were the first to arrive while we were sitting outside the Principal’s office and I was still sitting across from him staring at him. But he wouldn’t look at me.

His parents looked really concerned when they saw him and they talked to the nurse. But then they demanded to know who had hurt their son. And the nurse looked over at me.

So I looked up at them and smiled.

“If it makes you feel any better I think I broke a knuckle.” I said.

But neither of them said anything.

The Principal came out of his office to talk to Jordan’s parents, and they were obviously not happy about what happened and they were accusing him of letting me get away with it because of who I was.

But that’s when a very large intimidating man in his 40’s walked into the room wearing a three-piece suit, graying hair and clean shaven.

He had one hand in his pocket and he looked around at the scene in front of him.

“Did I just hear you correctly? You think my daughter gets special treatment because of who she is?” Dad asked.

“Of course not Alpha Wyatt. That’s not what I meant.” Jordan’s dad said, barring his neck in respect to my dad.

“Good. Because my daughter never does anything unless provoked. And if I recall, your son has been in more trouble than anyone else at this school.” Dad said.

“Look at him, Alpha. Did he really deserve this treatment?” Jordan’s mother asked.

“Meadow. Did Jordan deserve this treatment?” Dad asked.

“It was one on one. Not like the girl that he and his friends jumped this morning who was covered in blood when I saw her.” I said.

“So, you were defending a member of your pack? Is that what you’re saying?” Dad asked.

“Yes.” I said.

“Well, I think that speaks for itself. Don’t you?” Dad asked.

“That’s not true. She attacked me for no reason.” Jordan said.

“You’re giving me a reason right now you lying son of a bitch. If you’re going to beat up a girl you can at least have the balls to admit it.” I snapped at him.

“Alright. This isn’t getting us anywhere. They were both fighting at school. So, Alpha, I believe they should both get the same punishment. Detention for a week.” The Principal said. And dad looked at me, so I just shrugged my shoulders. I could do that standing on my head.

“That’s fine.” Dad said.

“Alright. The matter is solved.” The principal said.

“Get your things Meadow. You’re coming home with me now.” Dad said.

“I still have the rest of the day to finish.” I said.

“I know you do. But I need you at home right now. You will be back tomorrow where you will serve your detention at lunch time. Not after school.” Dad said, looking at Principal Parker. And Principal Parker just nodded his head in agreement.

So I got up and I gathered my things from my locker and I left with dad.

As soon as we got back to the packhouse, I walked inside to see a sight that I wasn’t expecting.

There were people running around everywhere. They had files and they were talking really quickly to each other as they were racing around working. I didn’t know what to think. The packhouse was never this busy. At first I thought that someone important might be coming but dad ushered me into the office and closed the door behind us.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

Beta Jude and several of the pack elders walked into the room and dad sat behind his desk.

“We just found out that a small human town in Texas has been completely wiped out.” Dad said.

“Wiped out? How? An explosion or something? What’s that got to do with us?” I asked.

“No. The town is still there. But everyone in it is dead.” Dad said.

“How the hell is that possible?” I asked. And dad looked at his Beta and the elders before he looked back at me.

“Vampires.” He said.
