PROLOGUE~ THE HUNT

_

~It was a hunt for blood, but the hunt instead ended with love~

_

Every two hundred years comes a beast in the form of a man. Its mission is one of destruction, no love, no peace, no matter how much he tries to restrain.

You see, there's a side of him, a deadly side, a beast.

It travels with wings like that of the devil, its eyes are as black as night, and on two feet it walks, but on four it runs when it's time to hunt.

It's a werewolf the myths say, but how can a werewolf be born with wings as sharp as shards, wings that can slice through its prey and feet with nails longer than the city's tallest building?

Surely not an ordinary one, right?

Then what to call it?

The mythical, wing having beast of death?

Perhaps so, but no matter how scary its name became, Verya was determined she'd kill it in this century.

She was born with the blood of her father; the blood of an alpha, and though many did not, and still don't believe in her, she'd prove that she's worthy of her alpha title.

In the past, faes, witches, werewolves, vampires and even hunters had come together in order to kill it, but not this time, she'd be the one to find it and when she does, she'd mercilessly slay it.

The hunt had already begun, alphas from all over had started their search. Several bodies were found; ripped apart and torn to pieces. It was not the work of a normal werewolf, everybody knew that, the claw marks were far too wide and there were witnesses, people who have claimed to have seen the beast close to the Barren pack.

Verya was already prepared for her journey, her bags were packed with weapons and clothes, she just had to successfully sneak out of the pack now when father was asleep.

Though she carried her father's blood, he did not see her as an alpha and neither did the pack. She was supposed to inherit the pack a year ago, but instead her father kept finding her Alpha males as candidates to become her mates.

According to him, women weren't meant to lead, but Verya wasn't going to let his words define her, sure she was a beauty, but she'd show him that even a beauty could slay a beast.

A smirk slipped lopsidedly across her lips as she grabbed for her backpack. It was time, time to join the hunt.
