Chapter 18

Roxanne

I feel his movement coming to a stop. My breathing stops as I anticipate his next move. My eyes, fixed on the ceiling. After a few minutes I feel cool air hitting me as his warmth leaves me completely. I hear the shattering of things for a whole few minutes as he starts throwing things.

I watch him through my peripheral vision. His breathing was heavy as he was throwing things. My heart, beating loudly waiting for him to resume what he was doing. I leave my breath which I was holding as soon as I hear the thud of the door.

He left.

But I still remain alert. He might change his mind and come back. Tears of happiness, pain, helplessness and fear start flowing through my eyes when I don't hear any footsteps behind the doors. I curl myself.

Why did I decide to sleep on Emily's bed that day? Maybe then we would have never crossed paths. Then maybe Emily would have been happy with him. I wouldn't have been in such a situation.

Hiccups and sniffles start resonating in the room.
