Chapter 6 - Humiliated And Abandoned

The sound of the car keys hitting the key hanging board created quite a melodious sound before fading into the air.

Sophia stood in the hall of the mansion with her head bowed down staring at the floor like a child who had committed wrong.

If only the poor girl knew the truth...

If only she stayed with the stranger instead of coming back to this man who only addressed himself as her husband while slept with god knows how many women behind her but expected her to remain however he wished her to be...

Sophia tried to hold back her tears as the sound of her husband's footsteps creaking on the wooden furnished floor entered her ears. Her body trembled as she waited for his words to hit her but they never did.

He entered the hall but, he didn't say a word. He just walked past her, heading towards the stairs to his bedroom. Sophia couldn't help but feel dying.

Just how much has she hurt him for him to just leave for their room in utter silence?

She remained frozen in her place for a while before she flinched because of loud sound of glass shattering originated from her room.

Her head was cleared from any thoughts she could have possibly owned as her feet sprinted in the direction of the room which Marvin and her shared for 3 years.

For her those 3 years were of manipulation and lies covered neatly under a thin sheet of love, respect and happiness.

However, for him those 3 years were playing around with the heart of an innocent woman, keeping her wrapped around his finger just so his heart could be appeased seeing the burning gaze of all men around him and floating on cloud nine while he crushed Sophia under him, not even caring once about what was becoming of her as each day passed.

Those 3 years were now to end for both but neither knew how exactly their lives would turn after parting.

"Marvin! Stop!" Sophia screamed as she threw the door, running on broken glass, bleeding. Bleeding for him. Bleeding because of him.

Sophia's fragile hands held the Marvin's strong one as they stopped Marvin from crashing the vase that was gifted to him by a business associate from China.

The vase Marvin adored in the same manner like he adored Sophia.

A vase being compared to a living, breathing human.

What a logical brain!

"Move out of my way, Sophia." Marvin spoke through gritted teeth, making Sophia flinch but her body didn't dare move an inch.

Was she scared? Yes.

Was she scared for herself? No.

No, she wasn't scared for herself. She was scared for the man whom she had spent three years with.

Did she love him? Maybe. Maybe, somewhere along the way.

Did she love him now? No one knew.

But, even if they didn't know if love was alive between them. There was something. Something that had been born between them in those 3 years.

Something which stopped Marvin from wounding Sophia physically.

The vase in Marvin's hand landed on the soft mattress of the bed instead of the floor.

Ragged breaths filled the room as Sophia moved away from Marvin, looking at the floor at the stains of blood on the floor. Her eyes were hazy, ready to shut down from this entire drama any moment but the pain coursing through her veins made it harder for her to do so.

"Why? Why!? Did I not give you everything? Food. Love. A title that makes others envious. Roof over your head. WHAT THE HELL DID I NOT GIVE YOU!?" Marvin's screams echoed in the once deadly silent room as they filled Sophia's ears, making her body tremble yet she didn't dare to speak another word.

"YOU CAN'T ANSWER NOW!? ARE YOU ASHAMED!? OH! OR, MAYBE YOU ARE NOT! AFTER ALL, WHO KNOWS HOW MANY MEN YOU HAVE WHORED YOURSELF TO WHILE YOU WERE STILL HOMELESS! AM I NOT RIGHT, WHORE!?" Marvin's hand gripped Sophia's jaw as he lifted Sophia's face to make her dripping eyes meet his burning ones. But, they never did.

They never did.

Her eyes still preferred to remain on the blood stained marble floor which Marvin failed to even notice.

Though, Sophia's actions were caused by her guilt. To Marvin they seemed to be mocking him, making his rage burn brighter than ever.

A chuckle ran through Marvin's body as he pulled Sophia closer to him, making her fragile body crash into him as her eyes finally met his.

"Tell me his name, Sophia." Marvin spoke through his gritted teeth as he stared into her soul with his burning eyes. "Tell me the name of that bastard that tainted the Goddess I worshipped. Tell me the name of that whore who had the guts to sleep with my wife whom I haven't even touched after owning her. TELL ME!"

Rayn.

The name was crystal clear in her head but somehow they wouldn't leave her lips.

Sophia's eyes widened as she struggled against Marvin's grip, tears flowing down her face uncontrollably. She couldn't take it anymore, the pain, the guilt, everything.

It made her want to tell him who the real culprit to all this was.

The real culprit. His own mother.

"Marvin, please! Stop! You are hurting me. At least, listen to my side of the story." Sophia pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper as she tried to talk to a raged Marvin about her situation last night.

But, Marvin was blinded by his rage and jealousy, not willing to listen to reason. He tightened his grip on Sophia's jaw, making her whimper in pain.

"Don't lie to me, Sophia. I am not blind. I can see these hickeys that bastard has left all over your body. Now, tell me his name or I'll make sure you regret it." Marvin threatened, his eyes darkening with each passing second.

Sophia's heart sank as she realized there was no turning back. Marvin had made up his mind and nothing she said or did would change that. Maybe, there was indeed nothing to change his mind after all.

"I don't know. I was drugged last night." Sophia said as she looked away from Marvin as his insane laugh roared in the room.

"I guess. He isn't the whore. You are. And, you know what? I don't accommodate whores in my house, Sophia. GET OUT! I SAID GET OUT THIS INSTANT! I DON'T WANT A TOY THAT'S ALREADY BEEN TAINTED! GOD KNOWS HOW MANY MEN YOU HAVE SLEPT WITH BEHIND MY BACK!"

Sophia's heart shattered into a million pieces as she heard Marvin's words. She never thought he would stoop so low and insult her in such a manner.

And, for something she, herself, was a victim to.

Guilt and anger. Shame and pride. All surged through her as she let her bloody feet carry her to the cupboard.

As she gathered her belongings, tears streamed down her face as she realized her life was falling apart. Marvin, the one person she thought loved her, had left her side and kicked her out of their mansion.

No. His Mansion.

Marvin slumped on the bed as Sophia carried herself out of the place she had given three years of her life to.

Her feet were still bleeding. But, somehow she didn't feel pain as she walked barefoot on the streets.

For once, in her mind the thought of going back to Rayn surged in her mind. However, it was quickly buried under Marvin's humiliation and taunting words.

Where was she supposed to go now?
