EX-GIRLFRIEND

Maya

"What's this? Why did you bring her here?" Reggie's ex-girlfriend, Angelica stared into his eyes.

"You're the one being difficult. You know how much I love and wanna be with you so bad… Maya, means absolutely nothing to me, she's not even my kind of woman.... You are, I promise to end this if only you promise to end your marriage with my father."

Reggie touched her soft cheeks as he let out his worries. Apparently, he was trying to lure her so, she could leave his father and they would get back together since they were lovers until his father got married to her.

"C'mon Reggie, you know it's you I love. Your father means nothing to me." Angelica tried to explain.

Reggie turned and fixed his gaze on her lovely eyes. "Then why did you get married to him after a week of introducing the both of you? Is it because of his money?" He held her hands but Angelica kept mute for a second. Then he realized the reason for her silence.

"It is then, you left our relationship of four years to get married to my dad, all because of money?" Reggie asked, perplexed.

She bit her lower lip and tried to reassure him. "Of course not." She turned to look elsewhere as she was feeling all guilty already.

"Then why is it difficult for you to leave him and come with me?"

"Is that the reason you brought that slum girl to the guest house?" Angelica removed her hands from his grip.

"I'm not just bringing her in, we are getting married, tomorrow." Reggie stared, motionless.

"Tomorrow? When did you two even meet? Are you trying to get me jealous?" She asked in disbelief, her plans weren't going as she expected. He was supposed to wait a little more.

"Why should you care? You got married to my Dad first, right?" Reggie reluctantly took a step back.

"No Reggie, I'm still here, right? Just give me a few months. I'll divorce your father and we will both be free to get married, Reggie." That was her plan, she was there for his father's money.

He stared at his father's ring on her hand and felt almost dead. How could she hurt him this way? He heaved a deep sigh and raised his head at her. "I'm not a child Angelica. It's now or never, you have till the end of today to choose between me and my father. Your decision depends, it's either you leave my father and come with me or I push through with the wedding." Reggie turned to leave but she stop him.

She couldn't afford to lose him. She loved him so much. His father was way too wealthy to resist.

"So you wanna get married to that low life from the slums?" Angelica sobbed, hoping he would have pity on her and not push through with the wedding. She was going to lose her senses if he does.

"Well, I will, if you still insist on this marriage with my Dad." Reggie said with a note of finality, hoping she would have a change of mind. at least for the sake of their love for each other.

"But you know how much I love you?" Her voice became seductive.

He noticed her body language and smiled.

"Then prove it." Reggie pulled her close and planted a kiss on her lips.

He kissed and grabbed her ass while Angelica pressed her body against his. She had waited for this moment all day but her husband seemed to be keeping a close look at her. She suddenly opened her eyes and realized they were both outside.

She quickly pushed him away from her body.

"Reggie, stop… we are outside." She whispered.

"So? I'm kissing the woman after my heart." He pulled her close to himself.

She reluctantly pulled away. "Yeah, but I'm married."

Reggie raised a brow. "Wow, you had to remind me that you're now my stepmother."

"No Reggie, it's just…" She couldn't finish her statement. He left her and went into his car.

~~~~~~
Reggie's driver stopped at a bridal store and we both walked out.
"What are we doing here?" I asked, confused. I have never been to sure a place before.
"Getting you a wedding dress," Reggie answered and greeted the attendant.
"Good day sir, welcome to Bridal Secrets. How can we help you?" The attendant asked with a broad smile.
"We wanna get a wedding gown. It's really urgent, you see... our wedding is tomorrow, so give her the most expensive gown here." Reggie explained, and my mind was blown. I had no idea about marriage and how to be a wife. My grandparents would kill me once they found out.
"Oh, congratulations, sir -This way ma'am." She pointed, but I was still in shock.
"One second please," i said and turned my gaze to Reggie. "Wedding? We just met. And you haven't proposed yet. What if she asks for my wedding ring?" I whispered into his ear.
"Yes, wedding - Ring? you don't have to worry about that. Lastly, she's he," He whispered back, and I turned to the person who was attending to us, he had a really long hairs, I thought...
"Really? He looks like a woman." I said, but Reggie just chuckled and instructed me to follow him.
I got my dress and other bridal stuff and we both went back to his guest house.
We got down from his car and walked into the guest house. Reggie, the man I love most, kept teasing me and making me laugh.
"Maya, you don't seem to take this off, do you?" He placed his hands on my necklace.
"No love, according to my foster grandparents, my relatives, either my mum or dad, gave this to me," I explained.
Reggie kept kissing and tickling me. I laughed so hard I didn't notice the lady standing in front of us.
She was Angelica, Reggie's stepmother. She looks more like his sister to me. She's such a gorgeous woman, no woman comes close, her dresses were top-notch and also smells really nice too. I wish I could smell as good as she does. She gives me this weird look whenever she sees me close to Reggie.
"You should wear something nicer next time. This is a guest house, not a clown's hideout," Angelica said to me with a fake smile.
I couldn't help but look at my slippers and clothes. That was harsh, but she's right.
"Angelica, that's enough." Reggie defended.
Angelica frowned, "C'mon Reggie, I'm saying the truth. look at her hair!" She stared at my looks with disgust written all over her.
Later that evening, I went back home to tell my grandparents the news that their lovely Maya would be getting married tomorrow.
"What!" My grandparents yelled at the same time.
"What? Is it bad?" I pushed my wedding stuff for my grandma to see.
"Honey, you just met him three days ago, you can't possibly get married just like that." My grandpa objected. He didn't buy the idea.
"Hun, the dress is really pretty. And it smells good too." My Grandma smiled. I think she supports me.
"You know how much I love Reggie right? I can't live without him in my life, he has been here twice, I thought you guys accepted our love." I tried to convince my grandpa.
"Did he ask you to marry him?" He said with a straight face.
"Uh…" I didn't know what to say, Reggie didn't say it to me but I'm sure he loves me.
"He did, that's why we are getting married right?" I lied.
"Then where's your ring?" My grandpa stared at my empty fingers but I quickly hid them.
"C'mon Grandpa, tomorrow is the wedding. He will give it to me tomorrow. Who knows maybe he ran out of money." Yeah, that's how naïve I was.
"Maya, this gray hair isn't on my head for nothing. I know Reggie, isn't he the CEO of his father's company? I'm sure if he surely loves you, your fingers wouldn't be empty." He insisted.
"I'm not stopping you from getting married. I just wanna make sure his intentions are pure. If it is, then you can push through with the wedding."
And with that, I walked to my room and couldn't sleep, I kept thinking about how my wedding was going to be.
The next morning I was awakened by my grandma.
"Honey, your driver is here, and some other people." She tried to pull me out of my bed.
"Has Grandpa approved my wedding with Reggie yet?" I asked with a worried look.
"Yes, honey." My grandpa said from behind and I was extremely excited. I hugged him and got prepared. My makeup was done and my hair was perfectly set.
I got into the car with my grandparents and we were all taken to the church.
I walked in and met the priest and a few people. I stood beside the priest and waited patiently for Reggie.
Minutes turned to hours but still Reggie wasn't here yet. I got tired of standing so, my grandma brought a seat for me.
I sat down and stared at the door entrance, hoping for the love of my life to come be my husband. I just want to be his wife so bad.
It got to three hours and Reggie still wasn't here. Tears rolled down my cheeks as the guest started leaving and the priest kept complaining.
"If he doesn't show up in the next ten minutes, then there would be no wedding. I have an appointment at noon. Your fiance is supposed to be here at 9 a.m."
"Grandma, I'm going to die if Reggie doesn't show up." I cried.
"Shhhh, don't say that honey." My grandma tried to comfort me.
"Five more minutes!" The priest packed his Bibles and other stuff into his bag.
