Chapter 5

"Commander, their numbers are gradually increasing."

"They're numbers are growing in the northwest wall. Most are category 2 Wamilos behind the walls but the ones above the city are category 3."

"What should we do, commander?"

The headquarters of the defense department just became busy with the sudden increase of Wamilos activity around the area. Units from each sector are already heading out and going into their positions.

"Have the unit captains in each sector suit up and ready. Activate the alarm and make an announcement." The commander said.

"Yes sir."

...

Just moments after, the citizens were all advised of what was going on and had them remain indoors and go into their bunkers.

The alarms were set off and the defense department had the whole city under alert level 3.

"Wait, wait, why is the alarm going off? Are there any monster attacks? We never had an alert level 3 in the past even when monsters attacked the city."

"Quiet, stay calm. The alert said it's in level 3, we need to go to the bunkers." Pulte said.

Pulte was worried about what might happen. He called Ravitz  again and this time he quickly answered.

"What's going on? What's happening?" Pulte asked.

"Oh, get inside the bunkers and guide other people near you to safety. We're in level 3, the monsters have increased in the northwest wall and a couple of them are already above the city."

"Have you contacted the doctors? Are they safe?"

"Don't worry, the headquarters is the safest place in the city. Most of the people have already gone underground and uh-"

While they were talking, monsters from the sky started coming down the city. All of which are category 3 which is equivalent to 4 high humans. They are as strong as the one Captain Vines killed a day ago.

"They're on top of the buildings... this is bad."

While the defense department is already out, if they are too far from the scene it would still prove difficult for them to handle multiple category 3 monsters.

Even though high humans are already a norm in the current society, there is still a problem with how little their numbers are and how their strength is on par with the Wamilos.

Even if high humans are like the majority in the defense department, not all of them are as strong as Captain Vines. High human abilities and capabilities differ from one another far larger than it was thought to be.

As the monster starts destroying the buildings, seeing as many people are still on the streets, they go into the tight space of the streets to devour them.

"Where is the defense department…" Pulte said angrily.

Pulte couldn't bear to do nothing while people outside are getting killed one after the other.

"...Stay here, I'll go and check for the president and the others outside. They might still be out in the streets, I can't leave them there."

Pulte went outside quickly leaving his colleague inside.

Since there is only a single monster near the area, and while the defense department hasn't arrived yet, Pulte decided to deal with it himself.

"This one is all alone, I can take it down by myself."

As Pulte was about to head to the monster, he saw a couple more people out in the streets scared to even move or escape.

"Ahk,okay…I should prioritize them."

He quickly went to help the people go into the bunkers for safety.

"I should guide them to the bunker then…"

As he continued to help people to their safety, the defense department arrived. But contrary to what he was expecting, there were only a couple of officers who arrived.

Pulte thought that they were experts and strong but it turns out they were only newbies and were short on people. Even though they were new, they didn't have any choice but to move out even without a senior officer. Their group splitted up and the ones who arrived to where Pulte is are just a bunch of newly graduated defense troops.

"Ah, they're all over the place. Aren't there any seniors among them? Their attacks are all random and they're having a hard time dealing with a category 3 with the six of them."

"I can feel they're all high humans but they are still new to their power. Why are they left alone like this?!... Those senior officers are just sending them to their deaths." He said angrily.

After fighting for quite a while now, they're not even leaving damage to the monster. Using their energy too much on their floppy movements and activating their power, they'll get destroyed any moment now.

"Ahk, I can't take it much longer."

Pulte was supposed to take care of the monster, but after seeing the defense department arrive he decided to watch and see how good they are. But disappointed as he is, he can't just let them die and do nothing.

"Hey, hey, hey… Over here!" Pulte tried calling the attention of the agents.

"...huh."

"You guys are all over the place, you're not even using your numbers to your advantage. You guys are supposed to be high humans right? You guys have gone to combat training and subjugation training right? This one monster should just be a piece of cake to you guys."

"Hey, what are you saying all of a sudden? It's not safe here!"

"You should evacuate to the bunkers, sir!"

Pulte felt like they were ignoring what he's been saying. He kept coming closer and closer to them and trying to lecture them.

"Sir, you should really get to safety."

"Hey! Ignore that man and focus on the monster in front of you!"

They tried getting Pulte to leave. Pulte was very annoyed, even with all that he said earlier they were still doing the same random attacks and not getting any damage through.

"...No choice then." Pulte said.

Pulte ran to the monster. The agents were all shocked and surprised, they weren't able to get Pulte away from the monster.

As the monster's attention shifted to Pulte, it raised its arm and tried to attack Pulte.

"Hey! Look out!"

"..."

Everyone was shocked, they thought Pulte was going to be killed with that swing.

The monster's arm was torn apart from its body before it could reach Pulte. They don't know what just happened.

"I told you guys, it's very easy to deal with this guy if all cooperated well and attacked simultaneously."

Pulte said smilingly as he was holding down the monster with its arms gone.

"...who is this man?"

"...wha-"

After a while, Captain Vines along with the west unit arrives at the scene shocked to see of what they are looking at.

"Why is a civilian up there on top of the monster's corpse."

"Who took it down?!"

...

Nobody could believe it and were only left with awe.
