Chapter 4

While the wall guards are setting up a perimeter outside as they wait for the clean up crew to arrive, Captain Vines called the people who were at the scene from the beginning.

"Officer Cecil and Officer Mali, both of you have been here since the start, is that correct?" Captain Vines asked.

"Yes, we were informed by the patrol guards who were on top of the wall." Mali answered.

"They radioed us about a group of people outside the gate and told us to look and see if it's true. After confirming that there are people outside, we quickly contacted the headquarters for permission to open the gate and called reinforcements, that is all." Cecil added.

Shortly after, people from the support unit started to arrive at the scene.

"Is anyone hurt?" Silvia of the support unit said.

"No one was injured from the guards, please check these people if they are in need of assistance." Vines said.

After receiving the report of the other guards, Captain Vines quickly returned to the headquarters of the Defense department.

"Captain Vines is a high human, isn't that right?"

"Ahk, that is so cool!"

"He took down that Wamilos as if it was nothing."

"But isn't that also scary."

People around the area blabber about what just happened.

"But isn't it still incredible!"

It felt uncomfortable being seen as something dangerous. But that is what it is to be a high human who possesses incredible abilities.

Since everyone other than Pulte received their ability from the drug that was provided by the research to the Defense department, their abilities vary from person to person.

All of them have their bodies enhanced by the virus but everyone didn't attain the incredible healing ability that Pulte has.

There are a couple more that they weren't able to attain due to the drug only possessing a fraction of Pulte's capabilities.

...

"Finally, I can go around this part of town with him following me."

While on his day off, Pulte is spending his rest day walking around the city. He didn't have anything planned for the day, so he just went around looking for food to eat.

"Hmm, people have been gathering up in the west gate a lot, did something happen?" he murmured to himself.

"Oh, it's the west unit captain huh."

After seeing Vines leave the scene, Pulte decided to check out what was going on.

"Well, this seems like a headline for the news... What happened here?"

Someone unexpectedly replied.

"Oh, the guards were saving those folks that came from the outside."

"..!" "Um who are you-"

"It was really hectic, good thing Captain Vines came and saved them. He killed a Wamilos in one swing, that's incredible. Being a high human is really great, right?" The stranger added.

"Oh, thanks?"

"...I shouldn't be here, I'm just being nosy. I should let them do their work. It's supposed to be my day off today, I should be doing something else rather than this." Pulte said to himself.

He left the scene and went elsewhere.

"It's my day off and I can't even relax. Where should I even go?"

After going around the city, walking around places to rest on, news has been popping on the screens on top of the buildings about what was happening in the west gate.

"Oh, so another save by the defense department huh."

After getting bored outside, he decides to go back home.

"Maybe I'll just go check on the project I've been assigned on."

As the night comes, Ravitz has already finished his job for the day and returned back home.

"Oh, you're here. I already ate, I left you some food at the table."

"Yeah. So, did you go anywhere today?"

"...I just walked around the streets, nothing special."

"Oh, right, I was at the front of the west gate earlier. Do you know anything about what that was all about?" Pulte added.

"Hmm, can't really tell you... just kidding."

"...You're like a top officer of the defense department, ofcourse you'd know something."

"Yeah, yeah, they just saved a couple of people from the outside..."

"Oh I know that part already."

Ravitz told Pulte some information that is not supposed to be revealed to the public but since Pulte is not just a civilian, Ravitz shared some information.

"That's all?...Okay."

"..."

"Oh that's right I forgot to tell you, Dr. Munda will be coming to visit tonight."

"Eh, why? Why?! What's the occasion?" Pulte said shockingly.

"To check up on you of course, what else could there be."

Half an hour passed and Dr. Munda came for a visit. He did what he always does as usual and checked on Pulte's state. Since Pulte got himself to be the first known high human, the doctors are still checking up on his condition from time to time. After talking for a while, he then left as soon as he could.

The next day, it's back to the normal day for Pulte. Nothing extraordinary involved, just a normal person going on with his normal job.

"Hey, I'll be going now." Pulte said.

"Okay."

...

"Hey you got here early, that's rare."

"Oh come on, I've only been late for like twice you know." Pulre replied.

After arriving in the company, he is immediately greeted by his colleague.

"Ah right, tonight is the company dinner, the president asked me to tell you and the others. You're coming okay."

And later that night, no one was prepared for what was going to happen. Chaos will soon befall the whole city and they were unprepared.

"Hey, are you sure this is the restaurant? President asked us to go ahead and check for our reservations but this doesn't look like the restaurant in the picture." Pulte's senior colleague said.

"...Um, you're looking at a different restaurant, it's clearly the one on the opposite side. The name is clearly displayed right there." Pulte replied as he pointed at the sign.

"...Ow…haha, my bad."

In the bright night where the moon is clearly seen up in the sky, a large shadow covered Pulte and his senior colleague as they were getting inside.

"...Huh, what was that just now?"

Pulte realized as soon as the shadow passed both of them. There are Wamilos above the city.

"...What the-"

"This is bad, we should take cover." Pulte insisted as he pushed his colleague indoors.

"What is happening? How could there be monsters above the city and the alarms not going off." He added.

Pulte quickly called Ravitz to ask if he knew there were monsters above the city. Ravitz wasn't returning any of the calls.

"...Tch."

"...Why'd you push me inside, is there something wrong? Are you that hungry for dinner already?"his colleague jokingly said.

"Shhh…" he said as he kept looking out and checking at the sky.

After a few seconds, he brushed the thought of monsters flying above the city.

"Maybe it was just an airship or something."
