Chapter 2

"Where am I? This place doesn't feel familiar, where have they taken me?"

With the help of the military force, Pulte was brought to a nearby hospital where he was rushed to the emergency room and was operated as quickly as possible. Pulte lost so much blood after the monster pulled off its tail.

"Dr. Hayn, take a look at this!" Dr. Munda said surprisedly.

Dr. Hayn quickly went to take a look.

"This is... Impossible..."

As they were trying to save my life, performing an emergency surgery on me, Dr. Hayn found something on me that shocked her.

"Just what happened to this boy?! His chest, which was supposed to have a large whole in it, is getting smaller and smaller."

"Doctor, what is this?"

Everyone couldn't believe what they were seeing, Pulte's wound is regenerating on its own at an incredible and impossible rate. It seems like it's rebuilding what was lost in Pulte's body.

The doctor and everyone inside weren't able to grasp anything that was happening and was just left there standing, looking at Pulte's wound disappear as if it wasn't there in the first place.

...

15 years have passed since then.

"Ah, I think it's going to be a busy day again..." Pulte said unenthusiastically as he got up from his bed to look down his window.

"I want to skip work today."

...

15 years ago, the year when large monsters, Wamilas as they would call it, started appearing all over the world. Upon their arrival, they only created chaos and destruction whenever they set their foot upon. No country was safe, everywhere was deemed dangerous as long as Wamilas were there.

Just in the first month after they appeared, most countries were already on the brink of extinction. Only a couple were able to slow down the rate of destruction.

Everyone had thought that their lives were already done. They thought that there was no hope for their survival. But as time passed by, researchers were able to discover a material powerful enough to weaken them and even prevent them from approaching.

Months after their first appearance, humanity has some hope again that they'll be able to overcome the problem the world is facing.

After the discovery, countries around the world started placing walls fortified with Haliminium, the element that weakens and prevents Wamilas from ever approaching, around a limited number of cities.

With how limited the resource of Haliminium was, and how most of the countries were destroyed, they were only able to procure only a small amount of Haliminium.

Humanity were able to seek protection behind the walls that surround numbers of cities.

And after getting a hand on the discovery of Haliminium, another discovery popped out of nowhere.

A drug was developed after 2 years that enables a handful of humans to gain incredible power and improved movements to fight back against the Wamilas.

Those drugs all came from the program of Dr. Hayn and a number of other researchers. They were able to extract some of what Pulte's gained abilities from the virus.

"Oh how incredible!" they said.

The discovery of Pulte's incredible abilities were hidden from everyone, even from the government. Dr. Hayn hid every record that would endanger Pulte from the government as well as the other countries.

They only released information and researches about the drug that wouldn't get Pulte's identity to come to light.

They were able to observe that the virus that got into the young boy's body mixed with his blood and was scattered throughout his body. They were unable to comprehend why the virus acted in a way that didn't kill its host and ended up saving him.

"Dr. Hayn! Why are we erasing everything that involves this little kid from the research? What is he to you?"

"...Doctor...You remember our teacher, am I right? The person that we spent decades researching with and studying under, that little kid...that little kid is his grandson."

"...What!? How did you... know of this?"

"I've seen his records...He lost his parents. And his two siblings are missing, he has no family left."

"I can't let myself involve this kid and have people take him to experiment upon, my conscience wouldn't let me."

"..."

"I'll never be able to face the teacher in the afterlife if I let him get involved in the research." Dr. Hayn added.

"..."

Doctor Munda's facial expression changed. As Dr. Hayn was telling him about Pulte's circumstance, he changed how he was looking at the situation.

"Dr. Hayn, will this be fine? We hid that young boy from the research and replaced him with another person. No one will suspect anything wrong, right?" Dr. Munda said.

"Don't worry about any of that, everything that will point to Pulte's identity is already destroyed. No one will suspect a thing." Dr. Hayn replied.

After the release of the drug, the formation of people that can fight back against the monsters started to rise.

Only a handful of people were able to develop anything out of the drug. These rare humans were like the evolved form of which their capabilities were greatly enhanced.

They were named 'project high humans' by the program. That name stuck to the people and they've been calling them that ever since.

...

And back to 15 years later in the present. Pulte is already 25 years old. He's been living under the young officer back then that gave him to Dr. Hayn and Dr. Munda in the hospital back then. Both Dr. Hayn and Munda have been supporting him, giving him a place to live and allowance.

The young officer back then, Liam Ravitz, has now become a high ranking officer and is treating Pulte like he is his own brother.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to be up by now?" Ravitz said as he barged into Pulte's room.

"...Oh you're already up. What are you doing there?" He added.

"It's my day off today, did you forget?" Pulte replied.

"...Is that so?"

"I don't want you ruining my rest day, get out!" Pulte said.

"Fine, fine...but you should still get out of your room." Ravitz said.

"With how nice the morning is, I hope it's like that until the evening." Pulte said.
