CHAPTER 6

HAZEL'S POV;

As soon as the dowager queen left my room, I fell onto my bed and burst into tears. Nothing seems to turn out well for me and I begin to wonder if the curse that has been placed upon me is also affecting every aspect of my life because why would I be mated to someone who hates me more than anything?

Everything seemed bleak and I decided to stay locked up in my room for a while. That way, I'd be out of Onyx's way. He doesn't even want to see my shadow and so do I.

Somewhere in the deepest part of my heart is nothing but hate for him. It's starting out as a seed and I believed that in no time, I'd hate him with everything I have in me.

I have been miserable my whole life thinking that my mate was somewhere waiting to claim me and be my redemption. I feel like I just walked into destruction. I suddenly begin to regret why I even chose to marry him in the first place.

My wounds have been tended to but it still hurts. I can't heal fast or even at all because I don't have a wolf to hasten the healing process so I just sit here, cradling my body and trying hard not to break down into tears.

My room and everything here is beautiful. Onyx's father made sure I got a good room as Onyx had planned on sending me to live in the basement. Now that I think about it, I shudder in fear. Never seen someone so cruel.

That day, I had thanked the King for intervening in this matter and I only believe that Onyx agreed because it wasn't something that serious.

Ever since he became Alpha King, he has never really listened to anyone but himself. His father was not exempted. Several times, I had seen father and son break into an argument only to stop when former Alpha north began coughing profusely.

One time, the Asher was speaking to his son about a development that needed to be made and because Onyx felt like it would cause a dent in the Pack's finances, he turned the request down. His father made him see the importance of the project but Onyx, believing that he only had the power to make every decision with no one influencing it. His father had yelled at him before he started coughing from straining his voice.

Sighing, I lay down on my bed and try to close me eyes to have a nap and the next time I am awake, it's evening.

I toss on my bed and crack my eyes open to look out through the window. The sun has set over the horizon. It's almost time for dinner.

I can't believe I slept for that long. Yawning, I climb out of bed and change into nest clothes. As the Luna of Blue moon pack, I have never had the privilege to dress like a royal. All I wear is casual day wears. Onyx's mother has spoken to him about it but he never listens. He also warned her not to get involved in his family affairs and it has me wondering if I'm even family to him. He doesn't even acknowledge me as his Luna.

Once I'm done dressing up, I contemplate on leaving my door locked and staying back in my room. It's far better than having to encounter Onyx. I remember Earl telling me to avoid him for the rest of the day and I think I'm going to do that.

So I walk back into my room and make sure my door is locked before going to my desk.

A book is piled up on my reading desk. It is an hobby I gave quite gotten used to. I love to read lots of books. It takes me away from the drama and everything happening for a moment. The only sad thing has to be the lies they tell us about love and romance.

All my life, I've read books like these, waiting for my prince charming to snatch me and drive me far away from here. But Onyx is who I get.

Someone who has turned me to his slave. Someone who calls me a whore. People still respect him and it shocks me.

A knock sounds on the door and my heart skips. Who might it be at the  door.

Swallowing a gob of saliva, I walk slowly to the door before grabbing the handle and pulling it open.

A guard is standing before me. "The King has requested for your presence with immediate effect."

    Does this ever end?

    ONYX'S POV;

Selah has gone home. She left the palace in embarrassment as my mother had made sure that she left. I'm still mad at my mother but there's nothing I can do. She's a stubborn as a buffalo. Unlike my father.

My father is sick so his energy is only channeled to living. I'm tired of him telling me what to do in his sick bed. He's no longer King. He should take a chill pill.

And as for Hazel, she hasn't seen what I'm going to do to her as I am just getting started. What she did today greatly infuriated me and there's nothing she's she's going to get from this marriage. I already detest her already.

I already sent a guard to go get her as I would not be joining everyone for dinner. She'll serve me as usual and that's when I'll do whatever I want to do.

Few minutes later, the guard returns with Hazel. She's dressed in new clothing and her hair is properly brushed. I'm guessing she's getting prepared for dinner.

"You're dismissed," I say to the guard and as soon as he leaves, I turn to look at Hazel in disdain.

Today, she doesn't look like she's scared of me or anything. Her chin is raised high and her jaw is set like she's waiting for me to say something for her to reply to.

Standing to my feet, I walk towards where she's standing and grab her by the chin roughly. She grunts and glares at me.

"You've suddenly grown wings that you no longer listen to whatever I say to you. What's most shocking is how you harassed my girlfriend,"

I'm expecting her to say something so I can hit her but she doesn't. She's really quiet but her breathing is heavy. I can see that she is really angry.

When I release her, she steps back and rubs her jaw painfully. "I was asked to come to your room,"

"Of course," I say in reply and walk to the other side of the room where my decanter is. Pouring myself a glass of brandy, I turn to look at her while sipping from the cup. "I have decided not to join everyone for dinner. So you'll be serving me tonight. Also, you're going to watch me eat till I am done before actually going to get yours to eat. Is that understood?"

    Hazel nods. "Yes."

"Now, go. Come back immediately and make sure you don't come back with shrimps as I am allergic to it. We don't want you being thrown back into the dungeon, do we?"

Hazel doesn't reply to my statement, instead she turns around and leaves the room.

Going back to my desk, I take a seat there and continue drinking while I wait for Hazel to return with my meal but when she does, she comes into the room empty handed.

Frowning, I stand to my feet. "Why are you back without my dinner?"

She stares dead into my eyes. "Your mother refused that I take your meal up to your room."

"What?!" I yell and throw my glass cup across the room where it crashes on the fall and breaks into fragments.

Hazel flinches and I want to apologize for scaring her but I refrain from doing so. "She says you should join the family tonight for dinner as it has been s while since you did so,"

"Well, go back there and tell her that I'm not joining anyone," I point to the door. "And make sure you come back here with my meal,"

Hazel doesn't move an inch. "Your mother insists."

"Well, I am King and you should do what I say instead of listening to her!"

    "She's your mother,"

I am annoyed by how much she mentions my mother's name that I rush towards her and smack her across the cheek. Her face turns to the side but she turns to look at me without a reaction. There are no tear streaks, nothing.

"You've suddenly grown a thick skin because my family and my friend are supporting you, huh?" I grit out in angry.

"No. I just think you're being too dramatic and acting like a child. Your mother genuinely wants to have dinner with you because she wants to spend time with you but you don't seem to understand."

With those words, she turns and she leaves, leaving me in shock.
