chapter 3

I ran down the stairs, tears streaming down my face, I heard footsteps behind me. It was Alex.

"What happened?" He asked but I ran past him to a waiter holding a tray of drinks.

"Give me that!" i said as i gulped down to glass of wine.

"Stop! Stop!" he said.

As for what followed after i don't remember but all i knew was that i drank till I was unconscious!

I looked up at him with teary eyes that begged to be believed. “There is a way to resolve all this,” he said calmly.

The family has decided to give you out to someone you will get to know. "You can't stay in the family any longer, moreso he has agreed to take you in."

Take me in? That was the most stupid thing I have heard. I wasn't a cheap commodity they could throw around, I have to leave. I muttered to myself as I watched the big bonfire at the center of the festival's arena from a lonely and deserted spot, a small tree with leaves enough to provide a little shade.

The pack was festive, tables were set around the pack center and meals that made my mouth water were passed around bringing back memories of grandpa who was a very good cook.

I leaned on the tree as tears dropped down my eyes, I didn't have time to feel the pain of Miles leaving me because the pain of being alone again without my grandfather hunted me.

Werewolves, both male and female, were dancing and laughing to music, all looking cheerful. The festival went on without me and I did not care, or maybe I did care but the rumor about me being a witch, cursed and everything else they could make up which I could do nothing about.

I sucked in a sharp breath, glaring at the glittering lights, unable to ignore the smell of expensive fragrances, wine and food hung in the air, laced with a hint of sweat. It all made me feel sick, I wasn't going to stick around any longer.

I took one last look at them, lifted my hood, my shoulders and adjusted it well on my head and abruptly turned back. I couldn't pass the crowd I needed to avoid the states, that's better.

I had lost everyone who loved me, I lost miles to another woman, I lost my parents, uncle and grandfather to the cold hands of death I think was perpetrated my someone. I didn't know who but I felt it was not normal.

Wallowing in self pity cannot change anything that's why I have decided to run, run far away from all this and it had to be tonight.

I will skip away when no one is noticing, they didn't like they care about me and wouldn't look at for me. Before they realized I am missing I would have gone far, far away from this pack.

Is he looking for me? My heart skipped a beat as I looked at a figure, it was cousin Steve. My intuition told me he was keeping an eye on me. He suddenly looked in my direction and his lips moved.

"Oh my?" He couldn't ruin my plan I turned and pushed through the crowds. I had to lose him. I walked briskly through the crowd filled with male and female flirting.

I didn't have time to envy or care about the giggles of the females who had found their mate Steve was hot on my heels. He pushed through the crowds heading towards my direction.

Who sent him? Elder Ken probably. I increased my pace immediately and wiggled through two drunk males who tried to grab me. Suddenly my body hit something warm. I let out a little yelp and raised my head to lock eyes with a pair of ocean blue eyes.

The scent of the young man was intoxicating and my contact with his body sent tingles through my body like sparks that made my body vibrate. "I found you," I muttered to myself as I stared into those silent blue eyes.

But before I could say anything else, he stepped back and shoved me away. My heart sank as he hurriedly walked away. What happened? Wasn't he supposed to feel the bond I was awestruck and was about to chase after him but he had disappeared into the crowd.

I stood there, confused, something was off. Why would my mate ignore me at the moment of our meeting?

As I tried to follow my mate, someone clasped my shoulders and asked where I thought I was going. It was my cousin Steve. He was probably sent to keep an eye on me. "Let's go back," he said, holding my wrist and pulling me. I wanted to fight back, but I didn't want to make a scene.

"Elder Ken wants to see you" He said and I stood there not moving at all.

He isn't asking!" He added with a face filled with disgust for me. He had so much resentment for me and he even labels me as the cause of his father's death.

I sighed and quietly followed Steve. "I shouldn't draw any attention to myself, not now." The pack was already spreading rumors about me, and I didn't want them to have anything else to make up.

I was right, he took me to Elder Ken's Chambers. "Do you have any idea why I called you," Elder Ken started When Steve.

"No," I shook my head.

"I have to tell you something important before you leave for the Alpha's house tomorrow."

oh no this was bad I was planning on escaping tomorrow. I didn't protest but kept quiet. "You are not only going there to be his bride." The old man beamed a sly smile that gave me a bad feeling. my plan had just went down the drain, I didn't have time to escape for now.

"W…what do you want to tell me?" I said as he approached.

"He was getting close what does he want?' I took a step back.

"Hey," he said as looked down at me with a smirk plastered on his face. His smirk made me feel irritated.

"Being his woman that's what you think you are going there to be but that's not all." His smirk seemed to broaden and my heart skipped a beat. what now? I wondered
