Chapter 2

"Alrighty!" I quickly nodded and made my way to the bathroom, feeling a little dizzy. Once I reached the sink, I turned on the tap and vomited the contents of the drink that I had been holding for too long.

Damn it!

I used my handkerchief to wipe my dress before washing my face and heading back out.

My eyes scanned the crowded dance floor as I dodge a group of drunk boys who tried to touch me, I slapped their hands away and they burst out laughing.

That's when I spotted Miles from the corner of my eyes. He moved towards a corner of the house, seemingly with someone. I hurried over, calling his name above the loud music.

"Miles! Miles!" I yelled, but he didn't turn around.

Confused, I looked around to see where he had gone, but couldn't find him. "Where has he gone off to?" I murmured to myself.

"Oh there you are!" I touch his shoulder and turned him around.

oh my it wasn't him but a young man with the reek of alcohol all over him.

"Pretty do you want to dance?" He giggled.

"No not all" I wriggle out of his hands and with a back stride I lost him in the crowd.

"What a relief!" I finally found Alex on the dance floor, dancing with Lola. "Have you guys seen Miles?" I asked, my voice barely audible over the music.

"What do you say? I can't hear you!" Alex shouted, pointing to his ears.

"Have you seen Miles?" I repeated, as i moved my lips, so he could read my words.

"Oh, Miles! No, maybe you should check the balcony on the second floor. He likes staying there sometimes," Alex shouted back.

"Thanks," I called back over my shoulder as I headed towards the stairs.

The hallway was full of teens and couples making out, and I had to squeeze past them to get through to the balcony. There was no sign of Miles!

Suddenly, I felt a pair of rough hands grab my hips, I turned around to see the same drunk guy that smelled like cologne and booze.

"Hey gorgeous." He said as his hands gripped my hips. My eyes widened as I immediately pulled out of his grasp. I Dodge his outstretched hands and pushed past through the sweaty bodies. I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach.

“Is miles avoiding me? Was he upset about something?” I made my way back to the first floor and grabbed Alex's arm, pulling him close, so he could hear me over the music. "He isn't there," I shouted in his ear, frustration evident in my voice.

"We are busy," Lola said, placing her hands on Alex's neck and pulling him back towards the dance floor.

"The last time we saw him was when he was talking to Tracey. Maybe you should try finding her," she added and pulled Alex face kissing him deeply not even bothered about me.

"Tracey? Oh, that girl who went to the same middle school with Miles” I said and they broke their kiss again.

“Yeah, you know her too?" Alex asked and Lola groaned.

"Yeah...kind of," I replied, my mind racing with questions.

Suddenly, Jimmy appeared, holding a girl in his arms as they swayed toward us. "Hello Eva," he said, waving.

"Hey, um do you know where Miles is?" I asked, desperation creeping into my voice.

"No, he was talking to Tracey, and then he was gone," Jimmy replied.

"Gone? But I saw him just now, he seemed to be with someone. Was it Tracey?" I asked, trying to piece things together.

"Who is this Tracey girl?" Jimmy's friend asked, a frown on her face.

"Someone Miles went to school with," I replied, my mind working furiously to figure out what was going on.

Brandon suddenly appeared out of nowhere, putting his hands over Jimmy as they laughed together.

"I was right, Jimmy. Miles got a hot girl, a Gregory girl," he said, chuckling.

I felt a pang of jealousy at his words. What did he mean by "got"? I asked myself.

“She couldn't possibly be his mate” I scoffed to myself. “And he couldn't possibly leave me for anyone”

"I think her name is Trac… Tracey…yes. Who is this Tracey girl?" I howled, trying to keep my composure.

"Tracey is Miles' ex-girlfriend. Thought you knew, since you said you knew her," Alex said, trying to calm me down.

"No, no, no, I just met her today," I replied, feeling my head spin. "Where are they?" I snapped.

"They are on the second floor, I think, ah...second...no, third room from the left," Alex stuttered.

I dashed up the stairs immediately, ignoring the sounds of Brandon and Jimmy squabbling about their gamble on where Miles' mate will come from. As I climbed higher up the stairs, the sounds of music faded, and I arrived at the third door from the left.

I took a deep breath and placed my ear to the door, hoping to hear something. I could only hear faint sounds, so I held the handle of the door and pushed it open.

As the door creaked open, my heart started pounding faster and faster. My eyes almost popped out. I saw Miles there in a corner of the room with another girl in a hot smooch session.

“Tracey!” My mouth hung open, they were engrossed in a deep kiss and her top was off. Her bra was almost off, too, and Miles was cheating; he was discarding his shirt as he mumbled on her neck. I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched them.

I felt a wave of anger and betrayal wash over me. How could Miles do this to me? We had been together for over a year, and he had promised to be faithful. I wanted to storm into the room and confront him, but I didn't want to cause a scene.

Instead, I quietly closed the door and walked back down the stairs. I could hear Brandon and Jimmy still arguing about their bet, but I didn't care. My mind was racing with thoughts of Miles and Tracey.

As I reached the bottom of the stairs, Alex looked up at me with a concerned expression. "Did you find them?" he asked.

I nodded slowly, still in shock. "Yeah," I replied in my heart, but I said, “No I didn't.” To Alex, my voice was barely above a whisper.

I couldn't take it anymore. I needed to confront Miles and demand answers. With a deep breath, I marched back up the stairs, my heart pounding in my chest.

"What was going on here?" I muttered as I pushed the door open, barging into the room, Miles and Tracey stopped and looked at me, both looking startled. Their faces turned were red and expressionless. I stood there with tears streaming down my face. What was this?

"Miles what are you… how could you do this to me?" I screamed, my voice shaking with anger and hurt. "I thought we had something special, something real. And now I find you here, with another woman, like I mean nothing to you."

Miles looked at me, his eyes pleading for forgiveness. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I still love you, but she is my mate."

“Mate?” My feet wobbled. I couldn't stand it tears poured down my face uncontrollable. I thought that… oh my! Was a foolish to think… Tracey only smirked and pulled Miles into a deep kiss and Miles responded kissing her deeper.

I couldn't take it anymore so i....
