Chapter 24

CHAPTER XXIV

Fast forward to two months later.

I just finish as session with my psychiatrist.

“You’re now finally healed, Isla. Congratulations!”

“Thank you, doc.”

There was still no news of Kade. I am allowed a phone but is retricted only to text and call, and television for only those that shows entertainment and are approved by my parents.

They care so much about my mental health especially my mama.

When I got home, naabutan ko si Aidan na kinakain ang avocado cake ko.

“Hey, don’t eat that! That’s mine!”

Pinagpapalo ko ang braso niya but he was still eating my cake.

“Mama!”

Mama immediately came to my rescue.

“Anong nangyayari?”

I stood there and cried like a toddler.

“What is it sweetie, huh?”

I pointed Aidan.

“He is eating my cake!”

I know I am very childlike right now but I can’t help it.

“Aidan,”

“What mom? I was just eating. Hingi lang naman ako.”

Mama tsk-ed.

She cupped my face.

“Bibilhan na lang kita ng tatlo, okay? Huwag ka na iiyak. Bad kasi ‘yan si Aidan.”

“Stop crying na, ha?” she added while wiping the tears on my face. I sat on the chair and tried to calm myself.

Mama called dad to let him know that he’ll buy me three avocado cakes.

“Kinain kasi ni Aidan kaya umiyak.”l I heard mama said before she dropped the call.

I have taken a break from showbiz. My whole life was a mess and the management and company understands it. They even told me to just tell them kung babalik na ako and they’ll welcome me with open arms.

I don’t understand myself these past few weeks though. I always like to see Aidan so annoyed and then eat lots and lots of avocado cake.

I also don’t like the smell of some foods kaya minsan ay sa kwarto ko lang ako kumakain and si mama ang nagdadala ng pagkain. She developed the habit of asking me first about the food tapos ‘yon ang lulutuin niya.

I appear rarely on our reality show like how I used to. I would just be behind the cameras and direct or something.

We’re on the second season of the reality show and it’s booming to the public especially that my brother has now also entered modelling.

Sometimes when my parents are going out, mama would go home pissed because marami daw tumitingin kay daddy. Can’t blame them. My parents aged like fine wine. Para nga lang naming silang kapatid, eh.

Lagi nagwo-work out si Aidan which I guide him. Though, hindi ako nagwo-work out. I just feel don’t like it.

Parang hindi ko pa siya feel. Marami akong kinakain and I’m sure that it would take me a lot of time to burn these fats and calories bago ako bumalik in shape.

While I’m out of the limelight, I decided to start a business. Agreed sila mama and dad.

“That’s a brilliant idea, anak.”

“Yes. Hindi naman kasi permanent ang showbiz. One day, you’ll leave that industry and before doing that dapat may stable ka nang pinagkukunan ng kabuhayan. One that would let you through your expenses and needs in life.”

Wala pa akong idea kung ano ang business but I am eyeing like three ideas and I’m doing my research para naman hindi ako papasok sa isang business na walang alam.

“I will guide you, princess.” Dad advised.

He is after-all a successful businessman. May mga feasibility study akong ginagawa para makita kung saang business ang mas feasible to go through.

Meanwhile, I help in writing scripts for the movies ng company. They allowed me to be their writer after the successful release of the movie I first wrote titled, ‘Love, Morana.’

It’s a mystery-murder movie. The people love it and they wanted me to write more of their movies. I earn some digits. Hindi naman sila special treatment. My incentives are like those people behind the camera.

It’s not much kung may pamilya ang staff but for me na wala pang pamilya, it is too much.

Right now, I am here in my room. Hinihintay kong umuwi si dad for the avocado cake. I’m reading another book. Louis also sends me books.

Medyo hindi ko na siya matapos-tapos. I have this na parang gaganahan ako tapos after a few minutes, mabo-bore so I would stop reading.

“Nak, dinner na.”

Mama texted me. Minsan, ganito ako tinatawag ni mama sa baba. Iniligpit ko na ang libro atsaka bumaba.

“Hi, daddy!”

“Hello, princess.”

“Where my cake?”

“Nandoon na sa fridge.”

“Thank you, daddy.”

“Anything for my princess.”

Naupo na kami sa dining table. The foods were served.

“Let’s pray muna.”

After praying, we indulged into the delicious foods in our table. Pagkatapos ng main course, the desserts were served.

We all had avocado cake. Maybe maraming binili si daddy.

“I bought a lot of avocado cakes para hindi na kayo mag-away magkapatid.” Daddy commented as I glare at Aidan.

Pagkatapos kumain, we spent the night watching our favorite show, “Dream Boat.”

It’s like a dating show wherein the client and the choices would spend a week in the cruise ship doing some romantic things and after a week, she gets to decide who she really likes among those choices. They would go on a date and the show will see after a year of they got really into each other. I remembered some even married and had kids then lived happily ever after.

“Sana piliin ni Cristoff si Rebecca.”

The night ended with me sleeping between mama and daddy.

Morning came. Everyone were downstairs. I went to my room and showered then dressed.

“Good morning, everyone!”

“Good morning, ate!”

“Good morning, princess!”

“Good morning, sweetie!”

We had our breakfast. Aidan is about to go abroad to prepare for a fashion runway since its fashion week in a few months.

Daddy wanted to stay home with mama.

“Magma-mall kami, anak. Do you want to come?”

“No na po.”

“Anong pabibili mo?”

“Cake po tsaka chocolate drink.”

“May cake pa dyan, anak.”

“Chocolates na lang po.”

“Okay,”

After they left, I grabbed myself a whole avocado cake and went to sit on the living room to watch my favorite cartoon show.

I was switching from channel to channel when something caught my interest. It was a live telecast of a marriage ceremony. I think nagsisimula pa lang siya.

While eating, I stick to that channel.

“Sana ganito din kami kapag kinasal ni Kade.” I said to myself.

The door opened revealing Coleen Heart. I stopped eating and eyes were glued to the T.V.

Who is her groom?

I watch her walk the aisle until she reaches her groom which sent me to feel uneasy.

My knees were like cooked noodles. Tears were hanging on my eyes.

I heard screams before I landed myself on the cold floor.
