CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

Soon, Amber was driving, and it was already 4 pm. Mrs. Lieberman had ordered all the staff to leave, possibly wanting to be home before the curfew. Avery stared out the window as buildings, parents, and their kids passed by in a blur. Lost in thought, she couldn’t help but think of Damien – his voice, his charm. She missed him, despite knowing she shouldn’t. She wondered what she would do if he appeared before her, right there and then. Would she hate him, slap him, or embrace him? It was a question she would have to figure out on her own.

"Hey." Amber called as she stared in concern at her friend who had been quiet since they drove off from work. "Are you still worried about Mrs. Lieberman?" She asked, and Avery turned to stare at her.

"No, it's not that." She replied, and Amber stared at her with a raised brow. Now, she was really curious to know what was going on, and Avery knew pretty much that she was.
