Chapter 5

Aiden,

Not wanting to aggravate the situation at hand, I simply nodded my head in response before moving to my room. I knew the guest she was talking about was non-other than a lady. As usual, she still tried to matchmake me with the daughter of one of her billionaire friends.

I took a cold bath. Moving to my closet, I picked out grey pants, a white handless shirt and flipped them on. Next, I strolled down to the living room, I knew she was seated there.

She clasped her hands firmly when she saw me walking towards her, "Don't tell me you would be dressed this way for dinner?" she asked surprised by my looks.

"Mom, please let's not do this tonight." I was tired of the constant dispute with my mom. No day passed without us having an argument.

I honestly don't know why she didn't love the clothes I was putting on. It was just dinner, and I honestly don't give a fuck about who she invited over. While trying to make her resonate, we both heard a car hunk outside the gate.

"Fast, darling. Go change your clothes, she'll be here any time from now." My mom shoved her hands to the stairs, her voice fast and intimidating.

I was not in the mood for that tonight. I simply took a seat next to the one she was seated and scrolled through my phone. I just received a message from Mac Borel's firm; they were requesting a partnership. The message was sent by the director himself, requesting a thirty-minute talk about the deal.

This was exactly the kind of people I wanted to be surrounded by.

People who talk business! Not some asshole who was ready to parade herself in my home just because my mom promised her marriage.

Two minutes later, the doors of my living room pushed open, revealing the features of a lady.

She was a barrel-chested, light-skinned lady. She had flowing, moon, shadow-black hair. She was putting on a short hibiscus flower skater skirt, a butterscotch crop top, and black high heels.

Her enticing constellation-almond eyes gazed at me over her puffy heart-shaped lips.

"Sarah, you are here already." Mom quickly split the silence in the hall, walking to her for a hug.

"Yes, Mrs. Carter." The lady responded politely.

"Son, come over. Let's welcome our guest in the right manner." she said, stretching her hand to take mine in hers. I did not want to ignore this gesture of hers, so I kindly played whatever game she was playing.

"This is Sarah Comans, she's the only daughter of the Comans. I'm sure you know them." Of course I knew them, her parents were one of the top leaders when it came to real estate business.

"Look how beautiful she is. A pretty lady from a good background with a good education. Son, isn't she lovely?" Mom held the lady's hand in the air and whirled her around so I could take a look at her shape. She didn't mind shaking her behind in front of my mom, puff…

"She is," I said coldly, ignoring my mom's signals. I didn't even go close to them. All I wanted now was to get done with the dinner and move to my room. There was a lot to do in there rather than seating with ladies!

That said, we moved to the dining table where the food was well-installed and waiting for us. We had bacon, tacos, vegetable sauce, grilled chicken, and yam for dinner. Accompanying the food was a bottle of Carbanet Sauvignon. I wonder what we were celebrating tonight.

There was absolute silence at table, the only noise which could be heard were those of plates and cutleries.

"I heard you concentrate a lot of time and energy on your companies. Hope you'll spare some for me too?" She said curtly, her voice low and intimidating. What the hell was she thinking this was? A relationship? Puff…

Instantly, I remembered the lady I got intimate with some days back. I don't know why but the image of that night kept reflecting in my mind. Did her image suddenly flew in my head because of what Sarah said?

I gave her a cold glare without saying anything, next, I gazed back at my plate of food.

"What, are you mute? Say something." She barked again.

I harshly dropped the cutlery I had in hand on my plate, making it echo, "Listen, Sarah, or whatever might be your name, you are here for my mother and not for me. Kindly finish your plate of food and dash out of my mansion. I'm beginning to get uncomfortable with you being around." I gritted my teeth in annoyance.

The expression on her face at that moment was priceless. Her face was stiff, just like acid solution was thrown on her body. That serves her right. Next time she tries something stupid again, I will bounce back.

"Aiden, you don't talk to a lady using that tone." Mom banged the table so hard. I won't want to be disobedient, but does she knows she was hitting my table, and she was in my house? Not hers.

"Mom, I'll be in my room. Excuse me," I woke up, gradually moving to the stairs.

"Aiden, don't you dare walk out on me. No matter what, I'm still your mother and I'm ordering you to sit your a$$ back in that chair." mom said pointedly.

This was what I was expecting. Mrs. Carter, always trying to extort me. I don't know why she couldn't just respect my decision of not wanting to be in a relationship. Was it overdemanding? Even if I felt like doing something like that, I will prefer a different girl, not all the ones she was proposing. Apart from her parents being wealthy, there was nothing else interesting about her.

I turned back and returned to my seat as she ordered.

"Good." I heard her say.

What was good about it? I only took back my seat because I didn't want to be a narcissistic
