Chapter Forty One
Today was to be a fun filled day for me and Celeste. We were going out with Lio and Baltasar to a spa, then out to dinner. Celeste said, ‘we all need to unwind and spend time together before the wedding since the honeymoon is going to be so long.’ Granted a month for our honeymoon was lengthy, but we had reasons for it that we couldn’t discuss. Lio wasn’t sure how being bonded to him would affect my human body so we were taking as much time as we needed just in case. Lio was trying his best to lay my worries to rest but his uncertainty just made me worry more. The Amarose Spa was located in a large city called Misona. Misona was about sixty miles east of Delwyn so it was a nice, long drive. The Amarose Spa was on a hillside overlooking the city with a beautiful man-made lake surrounding it. It was amazing work for something nature didn’t create. The Spa building itself was a large, cobblestone cabin with pine wood pillars on each corner of the building. The parking lot was off to

Chapter Forty Two
I could hear voices all around me but I didn’t recognize all of them. I kept trying to open my eyes but my eyelids felt too heavy. “Astraia? Can you hear me? Astraia its Celeste! If you can hear me nod your head!” She said. Her voice was a little louder than I wanted it to be right now. I thought about moving and tried to come out of the darkness of my subconscious. It seemed like such a struggle to open my eyes but I finally managed to succeed. Lio’s worried silver eyes were looking down at me and I knew my head was resting on his lap instead of Celeste’s now. The body underneath my head had been too warm to be a human’s. Celeste’s shocked blue eyes were staring down at me, as well as Baltasar’s dark red ones. They were standing over me. Two of the spa staff members and two EMTs were standing around us, looking down at me. “How long was I unconscious?” I asked, looking around at them. “Twenty minutes, maybe more. We couldn’t wake you so the staff called 9-1-1.” Baltasar

Me, Lio, Baltasar, Naremi, and Githinji sat outside on the porch. The sun was starting to set now and the air was cool, almost cold. “Who would do something like this? Thank goodness she wasn’t home.” Naremi said shaking her head. “We have a lot of enemies. For example, how about the whole world?” Baltasar said. “You don’t know if everyone feels that way.” I said looking at him. Lio touched my leg and gave me a faint smile before looking back to the others. “Listen to me, the world is changing quickly. The whole world knows we exist now and yes, some people would be happier locking us up forever. However, those people don’t know Astraia or the fact that she’s close to us. There are only a few groups of people who would do this to her and for only one reason.” Lio paused for a moment, he seemed to be thinking. “The Leopards, The Bears, and of course that officer could be the only suspects. The first two are obvious but I don’t think Officer Rollards would risk

The wedding was in two days. I was so nervous I hardly knew what to do with myself. I was getting closer and closer to becoming Lio’s wife and Teman Sejiwa. The mating ceremony would take place on our wedding night and I was still very nervous about it. Naremi had explained the process to me like it was no big deal, nothing to be afraid of. What worried me the most was Lio’s uncertainty; No human since Adel had experienced being ‘marked’ so he didn’t know what to expect beyond what his mother had told us. I had tried to put the whole thing out of my mind for now because other pressing matters had come to my attention. My parents had no idea what Lio was, nor did Celeste. I knew if they ever found out they wouldn’t be able to accept him. Maybe Celeste would, but not my parents. My brother, who wasn’t even human himself, despised him. I still didn’t understand him at all. Today I had to go do some last minute scans for me and Lio’s wedding gift registry. Lio would have come with

Chapter Forty Five
When Lio came home from work, he called a meeting with the pack. Lio sat on his throne in the sacred gathering grounds where the challenge for me had been held only two months ago. Ba’al and Githinji stood on either side of him, I stood next to the throne on his right side. Lio said that place would always be mine. I felt like I had a spotlight on me but I was going to have to get used to it once I became his mate. Everyone was riled up about what to do; I’d never seen them so frustrated. “Teris wants revenge, that’s clear. What isn’t clear is what we’re doing to get rid of him.” Enzo said from his spot in the crowd. “We need a solid plan. We can’t just show up in their territory and expect an easy battle. The bears have joined forces with them. For all we know, they could have all of their people plus the bears numbers with them when we confront them. Our power has grown, make no mistake. But we’d be going up against two Leaders. Each of their clans are as large as ours.

Chapter Forty Six
I was standing in front of a full body mirror in my wedding gown, mere minutes away from marrying Lio. The butterflies in my stomach couldn’t be tamed. My parents and Celeste were standing around the lounge room waiting for any signs of me having second thoughts, so that they could give me a hard slap across the face to snap me out of it. The room was sort of small, with one powder blue sofa, two powder blue single seats, and a cherry wood coffee table. The table had a small vase on it with a white and red flower arrangement. A large window with white, sheer drapes was to the left of me. There were double doors that lead out of the room behind me which was uncommon in a church from what I’d seen. My gown was a traditional white one with swirl designs stitched all over. The top part of the dress was strapless and a long V cut went down from my chest to just below my navel. It revealed a slim window of skin and cleavage. A sheer, white layer of polyester covered the little windo

Chapter Forty Seven
Once the ‘I do’s’ were said, the wedding reception took place right after. The wedding party rode in a huge bus to the Marc De Coupe Palace downtown. It was a huge luxury hotel with several large reception halls for special occasions. Lio and I were making our way around to all of the tables, talking to our guests. The formal greeting from everyone had been done after the nuptials so now it was our turn to go to them. The whole room had the similar theme from the church with cream and burgundy ribbons cascading down from the high ceilings along with the roses and faux silver chains that held the oval crystals on them. Each guest had a nice, plump goodie bag on the table by their reserved seats. There was even a large ice sculpture of two hearts side by side with a large pair of wings encircling them near the refreshment table. The DJ booth was in the farthest part ahead of the dance floor. I was very happy with Celeste’s and Naremi’s work. Lio’s mother approached us from between

I was standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom, wearing nothing but a gold stomach chain, my necklace, and my wedding band set. Waist jewelry was as far as I was going without piercing my navel. Naremi was standing behind me wearing her ‘birthday suit’ as well. I remember when I first met her she was nude, brushing my hair in bed. Now, she was finger combing my curls to give them more body. The wolves weren’t bothered by each other’s nudity, it was me that had the problem. After tonight I had no choice but to get used to it. I guess when your true form is a wolf, why would you be self conscious about your nudity? “Astraia, I can sense your nervousness and smell your fear. You don’t want to go out there smelling like ‘prey’.” She said in a serious tone that I’d never heard her use before. She stopped teasing my hair and stood beside me. I looked over at her and she sighed. “I know Naremi…You have to understand that this life I’m starting with Lio- with all of you, is s

Chapter Forty Nine
I was deep inside of a vivid dream. I stood alone in a grassy field of dandelions. I was dressed in a two piece outfit that was as blue as the sky. The top looked like a frilly bra and the long skirt I wore billowed out around me. It almost looked like water flowing down into the grass. It was so long. There was a dense fog, I couldn’t see more than an arm’s length in front of me. I couldn’t just stand in one place and wait for the fog to clear so I began walking cautiously forward. I could feel the tender blades of grass under my bare feet as If I wasn’t asleep at all; I’d never had a dream feel so real to me. I thought I would be walking through this endless fog forever until the fog started to dissipate. There was a large gathering of people ahead of me dressed all in black. Some of them were holding each other; others were crying and holding single lit white candles. I walked closer and no one seemed to notice me. When I got close enough, I could see two caskets raised abo

Something bothered me and nagged at my mind while I sat up in the strange bed being spoon fed. The bears had managed to kidnap me despite the Lio’s mark. “Iericho, how is it possible that I was taken from the wolves with Lio’s mark on me?” He didn’t meet my eyes but continued to feed me. “The bonding process is incomplete, that’s why. He didn’t have the chance to use his power to bind the two of you during the ritual. You would’ve needed to be bound to him with his power and had been in his presence for a full forty-eight hours for the marks to have fully protected you. Because the ritual was interrupted the bonding failed. The longer you two are separated, not only will you weaken and fall ill but Lio as well. You’ll both remain in a weakened state and continue to get worse unless Lio completes the process. I know this because my wife and I went through it.” Iericho said with a sigh. I’d finished the oatmeal and he set the empty bowl on top of the plate on the nightstand.
