Chapter Twenty One
What a night with Cleo, Will mused. It was definitely the best way to end a night of drinking. It was just a shame that it wasn't Piper who had shared his bed and his body.  He knew he would have to tread carefully where Piper was concerned or he could end up with a swift, sharp slap across the face. She was a lady who would need romancing, which wasn't something he was used to doing.  When he normally found a target, he just went straight in and told them what he was looking for; no relationship and no romance, just simple sex between two mutual like-minded people. But Piper was also his dear friend, and for that, she deserved his respect. Will decided to bite the bullet and called Piper to arrange a date. "Hey Pipes, I was wondering if you were free for drinks Friday night? We could go into Helston and make a night of it? I was thinking we could start at The Blue Anchor Inn and go from there?". "You don't need to ask me twice! I'm

Chapter Twenty Two
Piper couldn't believe how quickly Friday night had arrived. She stood in the mirror checking over her make-up and outfit choice. She'd decided on a black zip-up top with long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, followed by a pair of navy blue skinny jeans that hugged her figure perfectly. She finished off the ensemble with a black pair of kitten heels and her black leather jacket. The look she was going for was smart casual, so she'd only applied a gentle dusting of makeup to her pale skin and her hair was put up in a messy ballerina bun. All she had to do now was wait for Will to arrive in the taxi, which judging by her watch would be any minute now. Piper was still a little gutted that Seb couldn't make their evening out and even a little jealous that he'd made plans with someone else. She was also intrigued as to who it could be as Will had made it sound like it was definitely a date. Before Piper's thoughts could wander any further she heard a car

Chapter Twenty Three
On arrival at The Blue Anchor Inn Piper found a table by the window while Will went to the bar to order their drinks.  The pub was quiet for a Friday night but then again, it meant they would be able to have a civilised conversation without having to shout. Looking over at the bar, Piper got a good look at Will's backside in his jeans, and it was a sight to admire! He had such a toned physic, and his height made him even more attractive. Piper still found it strange that she was looking at Will in such an erotic way. The years had definitely been kind to him. "Here you go". Will said placing the drinks on the table. Piper opted for a glass of dry white wine and Will went for a pint of beer. "Cheers". Piper thanked him and took a big gulp. As the wine went down she felt the familiar burn in her throat and immediately relaxed.  "Thirsty?" Will laughed. "Mmmm I needed that. So, has work been ok this week?". "It always is

Chapter Twenty Four
As Piper sat listening to Will speak she thought what a wonderful night it had been so far. Apart from the moment that had passed between them earlier, the conversation had been easy and the drinks had gone down very well. Piper also found herself comparing Will to Dale, things had never been this easy with Dale. He was always awkward and stilted and made her feel like she was the problem. He would never have taken her for a few drinks just the two of them. He believed their relationship was best kept to the confines of his place or hers.  Dale also hated her socialising in general, and would make life difficult for her if she decided to see her friends after work. He was very protective or as she later realised, controlling. It had taken her a long time to see him for the man he truly was, and it was one event in particular that finally opened her eyes. But that was something Piper still wasn't ready to revisit. She should've known that somethin

Chapter Twenty Five
Seb sat nursing a beer outside The Harbour Inn. It had been a long day so he'd decided to unwind with a few beers before heading home.  He'd been meaning to call Piper and apologise for being a bit rude the other night, but as usual, he never knew what to say without being too abrupt. If only he could make himself lighten up and relax a bit. Piper had been on his mind ever since he'd first bumped into her that afternoon in the pub. She was just so beautiful, and always had been to him. When she left he'd been heartbroken. His plan was to tell her how he'd felt about her on their last night in The Ship Inn, but he'd lost his bottle. He'd been so scared that she'd reject him and that it would've ruined their friendship. It had taken him a long time to get over her, and that was partly why he'd decided to enlist in the Army. If she wasn't here anymore, then there was nothing keeping him here. Will and Piper knew exactly what they'd wanted to do from

Chapter Twenty Six
Will could feel his brother's eyes boring into him. He was busted, and he knew it! There was going to be no way of getting out of this. He just hoped that Seb wouldn't confront him in front of Piper. "Fancy bumping into you brother". Will smiled expectantly at Seb. "Fancy that". Seb responded, "If I didn't know any better I'd think you and Piper had been into Helston?". Piper came up behind Will laughing, clearly tipsy "Oh, hi Seb! You coming in for a drink?". Seb regarded her carefully "Why not? In fact, I think it's my round by the looks of it". Before either of them could reply, Seb headed inside to the bar and ordered the drinks. He was so angry! It took every ounce of restraint he had not to lose it with the pair of them. They had gone out and not even thought to invite him; unless it was a date? That would explain it! Will always got his way with any woman, so why should Piper be any different? It's not like he really knew her anymore, 9

Chapter Twenty Seven
It turned out that Seb only stayed for one drink and then made his excuses and left. Will couldn't lie, he was relieved. Trying to stop Piper from saying something was too stressful. It would be best if they were kept apart for now. Once again he'd walked Piper back to her parent's house and they had been chatting for a while. It was so easy to talk to her, and he never felt like he wanted to escape as quickly as possible like all his other dalliances. He was desperate to kiss her, but still reluctant in case she reacted badly. He wasn't even sure if Piper saw him as anything more than a friend.  Every time she smiled or laughed, his body responded to her in only a way a man could.  Should he just risk it and go in for a kiss? The worst that could happen was she gently knocked him back? She might even be more swayed into kissing him back after having had a few drinks? Bugger it, he thought. "Piper, tonight has been amazing".

Chapter Twenty Eight
It was a week since Piper's night out with Will and she still couldn't believe how the night had ended. It was because of that, that she couldn't face answering Will's calls or texts.  She still had no idea how she felt about it, or how she felt about Will. It was a turn of events that she'd never expected, especially so soon after coming home. She knew she'd have to speak to him at some point, but what would she say? Sorry, it was a mistake? She didn't even know if it was! It was such a sticky situation to be in because they were friends and she knew Will had a reputation around the town. What about Seb? He was bound to find out sooner or later? Assuming Will hadn't already told him. Oh gosh, how had she let this happen? And there wasn't anybody she could talk to about it to - definitely not her parents.  The only saving grace was she hadn't let it escalate further, although her body had responded to his. That night had been a very flustere

Chapter Twenty Nine
Will was still surprised to find Piper ignoring him - never in his life had a woman ever done that to him! He found it disconcerting that it actually bothered him too.Piper had been on his mind ever since - he could still feel her lips on his like an imprint. The tingling sensation was still so familiar, and oh the warmth of her body against his. He was gutted when she broke off the kiss, especially because now he was craving every inch of her. Her touch, her smell, and her body were invading his every thought from the minute he opened his eyes. The only respite he got was when he went to sleep, and even that was becoming scarce. If she would only answer him so they could sort this out and move forward. But then again, what did moving forward mean to him? He reminded himself that relationships were not his thing and neither was being faithful. There was just too much temptation in the world, and he'd never been good with controlling his urges.

Chapter Thirty
Seb was mooring his boat when he looked up to see a familiar face standing looking out at the harbour. Piper looked so lost and forlorn that it made Seb curious and sad at the same time. It looked like she needed a friend right about now. "Piper". Seb shouted waving in her direction and ushering her to come over. "You look like someone with a lot on their mind? Fancy coming for a boat ride?". Piper was completely taken aback - Seb offering her a ride on his boat without any kind of hostility directed at her? "Erm... if you're sure? I thought you were too busy though?". "I think I can make time on this occasion". Seb replied seriously. "Hop up, and we can sail the seven seas!" Looking at Piper's face his attempt at a joke had fallen flat. Then again, he wasn't known for being a joker. Piper climbed aboard and took a seat without saying a word. Seb could sense that she just needed some quiet time for now so he started the boat and exited
