Chapter 3

It’s been a week since the incident outside of work and my boss Fred was kind enough to give me the week off to heal and rest.

It’s also been a week sense I meet Chris and he hasn’t messaged or called me once to check on me or even just to talk.

I’m laying in bed with the cover over my head ignoring the ringing of my alarm clock at the same time I’m trying to block out the light that shines through the sheer curtains I made the mistake of buying because I thought they were cute and fit the aesthetic of my small room.

"Sasha Nichole get your ass up or your gonna be late for work" groaning into the pillow I pick my head up just enough to check the time.

"Shit" it's 7:45 I have to be at the shop at 8:00 to open for Fred who asked me to open today because he had to take Monica his wife to the doctor.

Fred and Monica have been married for forty years and moved to Portland in 1984 after their first son was born. Fred was friends with my dad who also happens to work at Fred’s place back when Portland was still a up and coming city on the growing map of places to visit for those looking for a new place to explore and before the now famous phrase “Keep Portland Weird” became a thing.

I was seventeen when I started to work for Fred so I could help pay for my moms medical bills when they started to become to much for Tommy to try and pay by himself.

I started to work two jobs once I graduated high school just to help keep the roof over our heads and the lights on while Tommy was always at the hospital with our mom.

After our mom died we were left with a mountain of medical bills among other things so I left my dream of wanting to become a lawyer on the back burner and worked myself crazy intel we caught up on all the bills and eventually paid off the mortgage.

I make it to work a little after 8:30 only because I went around the block to avoid where i had been attacked.

I open the shop and tidy up a bit while I wait for Sofia to get in.

"Hi welcome to Fred's Place if you need any thing or have any questions let me know" I tell the small group of tourists that wandered into the the shop.

"Thanks for coming in have a nice day Mr. Jyn "I tell the nice oldman who always comes in to see what new trinkets we have, when the bell chimes and in walks Christopher with another man, bright green eyes meeting my dull blues both in in shock and not expecting to run into each other.

"Okay then” says Sofia “What brings you fellas in today" saved by the beauty I call a best friend who know doubt could feel the tension wash off me in waves.

I mean I don’t have a reason to make things awkward and for some reason I have made it that way and I feel completely embarrassed because of it, but here I am standing with my mouth agape making that way.

“Okay well I will be back in half an hour then you can take your lunch” I hurry in grabbing my new bag and walk around the register to leave before I make it even more embarrassing for myself then I already did.

"Hey wait” comes a smooth voice from behind me “It's Sasha right” I turn around bumping into his firm chest.

He smells so good.

“Yeah and your uh “ I pause for a moment even though I remember his name “Christopher right" my reply comes of colder then I meant to..

I didn't mean to sound so rude but I did. I mean we just meet that one time and that was like a week ago so I shouldn't be mad over the small fact he didn’t call or text.

He doesn't owe me anything or any kind of explanation but damn did it make me mad that he asked for my number then didn’t call or text and now he asks me my names is if he meets so many girls he can’t keep their names straight.

It really is a player move and it might work for him but I for one am not the type of girl to just let herself be played like that.

He is very attentive and wow does he smell good but I still can’t believe he asked if my name was intact my name, he couldn’t of forgotten me that quickly could he?
