Lora kept her pensive gaze contemplating the immensity of Las Vegas. She thought about her life; what he did, what he was doing and what he was going to do. His mind revolved around the problems he already had, and the others he was getting into.

For the third time in the morning, Drake had gone to her friend's bedroom door and forced the lock, hoping it was open. He didn't know how much he'd hurt her, but he knew that isolation was a bad sign.

Lora had a protective instinct; he wasn't able to trust, so he could hardly love anyone. He was always on the safe side of the street. However, there was a reason for such behavior; she knew she couldn't bear another disappointment. The first person to break his trust was his father, someone who was supposed to protect him, and since then his whole life had been based on measures of emotional detachment.
