Chapter 4: Silhouette

When I got home, I spotted my butler standing in my living room. He smiled at me as if he expected me to return home right away after having taken a break. But he has no idea that I have finally met my partner. I just happened to see him at an inappropriate moment. This is not a suitable moment because I am still scavenging for my sister. I can't have anything else on my plate but the challenge I'm currently dealing with. There are several other issues in my daily existence, so why does he appear when I am not searching for him?

I don't blame my mate for showing up unexpectedly, but it ought not to be this moment since I might not be able to focus on anything.

I assumed that if I aired, the problem would go away instantaneously, or at least for a while, so why did it suddenly worsen?

I know I'm his mate, and I ought to believe him, but I can't right now, especially since what happened to my sister has left me scarred.

My sister was unexpectedly stolen away the last time we trusted her. That's why I'm terrified to even claim he's the one I'll spend the rest of my life with.

I'm terrified of the possible outcomes because I don't know if fate will be on my side. After all, he's about to give me a creature I know matters to me.

"You appear to be immersed in thoughts right now, Ma'am." I was nearly startled in surprise, so I turned to my butler, who was suddenly beaming at me.

"A little," I said, taking a long sigh and shaking my head. "Would you believe me if I said I met my mate?"

He shook his head while staring at me, but his beaming face remained, "I shouldn't be surprised, Ma'am, because I can see how beautiful your aura is tonight."

My brow furrowed as a result of what he said as if he didn't expect what he was about to say. It's simply that what he says doesn't appear to be anything I feel.

"Perhaps you're speculating why I said that your aura is magnificent right now, Ma'am," he joked.

"When you showed up, you had a smile on the corners of your mouth. So I knew right away that your aura was exquisite, but I just didn't expect that you would see your mate right away despite the problems you are facing at this point, Ma'am," he went on to clarify. Sebastian's visage crept into my unconsciousness gently. What he smiles and how he grins.

"I'm not trying to provoke you, Ma'am, but for the sake of the case you intend to go, I hope you won’t run away—"

I instantly stopped what he was uttering by extending my hand to indicate to him to stop or continue speaking.

I know what I'm doing, but because of what's going on right now, they may be concerned about what will happen, and speculate that I may not be able to find my sister because I finally found my mate.

"That will never occur since I know for a fact what I'm planning to do. I will not cease to be peaceful if I don't continue everything and if I do, it's like I've stopped taking revenge on the woman who did this to us," I said with a grimace on my face.

I understand what he's saying because that's what immediately came to my mind, but I don't want to accept it just like that. That would let the loss of my sister be as if he were nothing more than a piece of trash.

I am not careless so I will not stop this from arising because I know myself and my sister that we have the right to live peacefully on this planet.

It's just an existing trial but I'm not delighted because we've been separated from my sister for several years. She has no offense on the planet so why is she facing this now?

I'm upset because I let my sister be abducted but why should I let us not fulfill the freedom I've been dreaming of for a long time?

“I apologize for that, Ma’am,” he said but I just smiled at him.

“You don’t have to. Besides, you are entitled to your opinion so you don’t have to worry about voicing it out. I understand what you are pointing out because you don’t want to let go of this case easily,” I retorted.

“I want her to leave this world for doing that to your sister, Ma’am,” he uttered and I could feel the grief and bitterness.

“That’s the main objective why I wanted to find that asshole mastermind who made us the saddest werewolf,” I whispered angrily. “After all, we should be happy now like other werewolves but because of what she did, we are suffering a lot."

I don’t understand why they have to do that. They are just making a conflict with every creature. In what world do they have to abduct an innocent werewolf?

“You’re thinking of something?” Sebastian said and groped my ass.

I’m now sitting on his lap while he’s working. He called me on my phone number then and asked me if I could visit him at his company but I didn’t expect him to be like this, clingy as hell!

“Well, I’m just wondering why you asked me to visit you here if you are just going to be clingy while working. You know that I still have a lot of things to do since I don’t have days off,” I muttered but he just shrugged off his shoulders as if he didn’t understand what I was wondering!

I can’t with this man! He’s so full of himself and he’s being the dominant here even if we just met last night! And for Pete's sake, he’s being clingy with me all the time. He loves to massage and grope my ass whenever he’s pressed about the document that he’s been examining.

“Why can’t you just acknowledge my thoughts?” I simply asked.

He glances at me for a bit before looking at the document that he’s been reading all the time. Look! He’s just ignoring me! Like, wtf? I’m his mate but he’s doing this to me!

“I’m occupied reading these documents, Louve,” he uttered softly.

My heart pounds faster upon hearing the name he called me. I can feel my blood rushing to reach my cheeks and then build a rhythm to make my cheeks turn into the color of the tomato. I even have a hard time thinking about what I should do because my sanity seems like it is not reacting anymore.

I was just looking at him with wide-open gazes and kept my eyes blinking because I was too distracted and alarmed at what he just said. I know it’s kinda weird but I can feel the butterflies inside my stomach which they kept on flying as if someone had attacked them.

“Got your tongue cut?” he mocked.

“No! I was just surprised by your tone but I still wanted to go back to my company so I could start working,” I defended but he just let out a soft chuckle, making my blood boil.

“I’m not joking, Sebastian!” I shouted but he just kissed my lips to shut me up before he started reading the document again.

Because of what he did, I just let out a deep sigh and mentally shook my head. I’d rather look at the view in his window so I could remove all of my negative emotions. I’m still processing everything on how to find the culprit but my investigator said that there’s no clue aside from the CCTV footage he gathered.

I know that there’s still something missing but I can’t pinpoint it because my knowledge is so limited that I couldn’t connect everything in just a snap. There’s missing information and I need to find that out while dealing with my clingy mate.

When I blinked my eyes for a bit, I saw a shadow in front of me but when I attempted to stand up from sitting on Sebastian’s lap, it disappeared.

“What’s the matter?” he inquired when he felt that I was persuaded to stand up.

I can also feel my eyes glistening after the silhouette visited his office but for some reason, it disappeared before I could even attack it. I have a feeling that it is connected to the culprit but at the same time, there’s a lot of what if in my mind. But the real question is, “What’s the motive of that silhouette?”
