"Hey," I managed to muster as I took in the sight of him without a suit.

"Hi," He responded, his expression still stoic but with a hint of warmth in his eyes.

"Thank you for inviting me," I murmured, adjusting a stray strand of hair behind my ear.

"Of course, anytime," Dante responded, his tone steady and comforting.

"I grabbed those fries you were debating earlier. Thought they might help brighten your mood," he offered.

I mustered a smile, trailing after him as he guided me towards the kitchen.

As we walked, a bizarre thought flitted through my mind - What if he's about to stab me with a butcher knife? What if he's some secret serial killer, relishing in the slaughter of innocent souls? Oh God, maybe this whole thing was plotted with Matteo. Break up with me, and I'll seek solace in Dante, only to be lured into their sinister scheme. I honestly expect nothing less from Matteo. He's capable.
