The Accident

Sarah's POV

Sarah waited outside of Harmony Preschool for Anna. She loved this little girl so much. She and Eric left his pack five years ago and she soon became pregnant with Anna. They were so happy. Due to carrying a pup, they had to find a doctor that was familiar with wolves, which was difficult in itself seeing they had no pack and lived among humans. Luckily, Eric had a friend that he could call on no matter what. That friend led them to a doctor in his pack, who watched Sarah throughout her pregnancy, which was only 7 months, as opposed to the 9 months traditionally experienced. Her pregnancy had been fairly easy, though the delivery was more difficult. They almost lost Anna but thanks to the quick thinking of Dr. Moore, she was saved.

Sarah was brought out of her thoughts when she heard the most beautiful sound.

"Mommy!" Anna came running down the steps and jumped into Sarah's arms. She hugged her mother before planting a kiss right on the cheek.

"Hi sweety. Did you have fun today with Ms. Highland?" Sarah kissed Anna on the head before putting her down on the ground, then taking her hand and began walking toward home. She listened to Anna talk about all of the fun things she did that day. This was always one of Sarah's favorite times of the day. They walked home after preschool each day as it was just two blocks away.

Once they were home, Anna ran up the stairs to her room while Sarah went to the kitchen to prepare a snack for her. She found herself humming and realized just how happy she was. It had been a rocky first year after Eric had rejected his pack. Doing so had put him in a depression for a while, but he always said he'd do it again in a heartbeat. They had moved to Oregon for their first home, which was a bit difficult for Eric as he'd never lived in the human world. Sarah had at least some knowledge thanks to her upbringing.

They ended up getting married in the traditional sense while there by a justice of the peace in a courthouse. Five months after that she found out she was pregnant. They were happy that first year.

Finishing fixing the snack, she hollered for Anna to come down to eat.

Alpha Eric's POV

Eric was finally done with class and was heading home. He was getting a bachelor's degree in business and was in his second year. It was brutal, but he was looking forward to his degree and what his prospects were.

His wolf, Edward, was always present, but he hasn't shifted in over a year. Edward was feeling a bit flustered lately, which made Eric nervous. He hasn't told Sarah, but he's been feeling like something was going to happen. And he only felt this way before they were caught twice before. Sarah was so happy and Anna was becoming adjusted, he hated the idea that they would be forced to leave.

Sarah's POV

Anna was sleeping peacefully as Sarah checked on her. She watched her daughter snoring lightly and smiled. Closing her bedroom door slightly, she turned and headed downstairs where Eric was waiting on the couch. They had a date night planned. They wanted to watch a movie and cuddle.

Eric was distracted through most of the movie. Something was bothering him, Sarah just didn't know what. When the movie ended, Sarah decided to ask him.

"Eric sweety, you've been awfully quiet. Is something the matter?"

Eric sighed and decided to tell her. "I've been feeling... unsettled the last few days. Like I have in the past before we've been caught. I didn't want to say anything in case it was nothing. I haven't seen anything to confirm it, so it might.just be Edward feeling flustered he hasn't been able to run," Eric pulled Sarah against him. "Let's just try not to panic and just keep an eye out," Eric kissed Sarah on her temple.

Sarah's POV

Sarah pushed Anna in the swing. She brought her to the neighborhood park, looking forward to the free day. She had plans to go to the park, have a picnic, then meet up with Eric later that day. But suddenly, she looked over and saw Eric running toward them.

"Hurry. I have our bag, we have to go! I saw them again! Get Anna, let's go!"

Alpha Eric's POV

Eric studied the road in front of him. It was late at night and they were on the run, again. He looked over to the seat next to him and saw Sarah sleeping, finally. He glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Anna sleeping, her little head resting against her car seat. He looked back at the road and calculated the distance they had to go. Another 2 hours.

It's been about 5 years since they left his pack. And at least three times since then, they've had to just leave their stuff and run. This time, they lived in New York. They thought it was going to be their home forever. They lived in a nice neighborhood, Anna was enjoying her preschool.

But Eli found them again. He was the rival Alpha of White River pack. When Eric had left the pack, Alpha Eli saw a way to become the best. Ever since, he has his goonies hunting him and his family. He wanted to kill Eric and Sarah to make sure they don't come back to their pack. His goonies found them twice before.

Eric and Sarah had to plan ahead and create a getaway suitcase. It held their important documents and Momentos.

After they left the park, they had to just go. They couldn't go back home. They couldn't say goodbye to anybody.

They were heading to a cabin in the mountains that his friend owned. Hopefully, they could rest there a couple of days before finalizing their escape.

Suddenly, he was blind sighted by a flash of light right in front of the vehicle. At first he thought they drifted to the other side of the road. But he didn't have time to think as he heard Sarah scream right before the car was forced off the road. He knew they had found them. He heard Sarah's continued screams as the car was smashed and the metal scrunched. The car made a few flips before landing on it's roof. When the car finally stopped, he opened his eyes and saw glass all around. He looked over and saw Sarah with her eyes closed.

"Sarah! Sarah, wake up. Are you ok?" She didn't answer. He knew she was dead. He looked in the back seat and saw Anna opening her eyes before she started crying. He didn't have time for anything else when he saw foots stepping toward the driver's side of the door. He knew he would be killed. Right before hands pulled him out of the car through their window, he said a quick prayer to the moon goddess that Anna would be found safe. That she would be loved.
