I could see the sympathy in his eyes. He gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "I understand, Laurene. It's okay to be confused and hurt. It's okay to not know what to do. But remember, whatever decision you make, I'll support you."

His words are comforting but it didn't ease the pain in my heart. But I was grateful for his understanding and support. For now, that was enough.
