Chapter One

Rosalyn felt a combination of nervousness and irritation as she stood in line at the bank. She had to be at her temp job in two hours and the drive alone was more then half that. She also needed gas to get to work. That was the only resin she was in this unbudginng line in the first place. She had her debit card but for some reason her bank had locked, which was another reason too. She sighed as she thought to herself, "How did things get to this point?" Rosalyn already knew the answer. As she finally inched her way to the tellers she thought of the series of events that lead her to where she was now.

It began about two months before, when Bryce, her fiancé had got into some trouble when he robbed a business for $2500 in merchandise, and returned to try his luck again! That day she had went to their trailer for lunch and seen that her fiance was not there. When she opened the door and went inside she had found Bryce laying on their bed that converted into a sofa. "Where's Jerky?" she asked. His response through her into flight mode. She remembered how her told her how he got jacked for the truck and that Jerky was inside. She remembered driving to the business her robbed, driving dangerously to get him back. Rosalyn moved closer still remembering. Remembering how she darn near hit two of the workers in a hurry to get back her puppy. She remembered almost breaking the truck window to try and get him out. Remembered his whimpers as she was about to swing the metal pole she had grabbed off the floor to break the drivers window. She managed to get Jerky back. She wasn't so lucky about the truck.

Bryce was always doing something to jeopardize their safety. Before this incident he had broke into a liquor store and tried to steal the ATM. He was shot at, but managed to get away. Now Rosalyn was stuck living in their travel trailer in someone's backyard trying to figure out what to do. She was a temp working as a dishwasher. She had applied at every supervisor position available, went to several interviews but nothing came from them. She started remembering again.

It was just before this last event, when Bryce still had the truck, and Rosalyn was the supervisor at a gym. Bryce crashed into her old job's front doors, jumped over the counter, and grabbed the companies deposit safe. She had quit her job two days later. It was her turn finally and as luck would have it, Bryce had screwed her again. Her bank was closing her account for a fraudulent check he had deposited into her checking account without her knowledge. She hated him! If it's not one thing it's another. "You fucking son of a Bitch!" she screamed as she exited the bank. She got in her car and started to cry. She sat there crying until she heard her phone ring. Quickly wiping her eyes, she answered it. "Hello?" Rosalyn answered sotly.

" HI this Jose Campos, I'm the general manager here at the Fairland hotel, I'm looking for Rosalyn Vargas."

Rosalyn's heart began to beat faster, she felt herself getting nervous. "Could this finally be a job calling me back?" She asked herself. "This is her," replied Rosalyn. "Yes. I was calling to see if you were still looking for employment Rosalyn," replied Jose. "Yes I am," she said back. "Great, then on behalf of Fairland Hotels we would like to offer you a full-time position as our Front Desk Supervisor. Could you come in this Friday and start?" Jose offered. "Yes sir I can, what time did you need me to come in?" Rosalyn answered, barely able to contain her excitement. "If you could be here at 7:45 AM I'd really appreciate it. Normally your shift starts at 8:00 AM, but if you could come in 15 minutes earlier to go out your employment paperwork it would be highly appreciated." Said Jose. "Yes I shall be there at 7:45 AM Friday morning. Thank you so much for the opportunity Jose," chimed Rosalyn. "No thank you for accepting. So I'll see in Friday Rosalyn. Enjoy the rest of you day. Bye." Jose replied before hanging up. As she hung up too, Rosalyn felt like she was going to faint. Her breathing was heavy and fast. She finally got a job! She didn't have to be a temp washing dishes anymore for minimum wage. "Yess!" Screamed Rosalyn from inside her car. She noticed the banks security guard watching her from the bank's front door. She hurried up and started her car heading back home.

As Rosalyn pulled up the long driveway heading to the backyard where she was staying, she quickly noticed a lot of movement going on in the trailer. Her heart dropped. She was familiar to that type of movement, what caused it and she knew right away what was going on. Before she made it to where she parks her car the movement stopped and loud shuffling could be heard. She pulled up to her parking space, put the car in park. turned off the ignition and slowly started to get out. She made it a point to walk slowly to the front door. She was giving Bryce and his "company" time to get clothes back on. She didn't want to catch him in the act of cheating, she didn't want annything to change her good mood. She finally got a real job and she wasn't about to let Bryce ruin her happiness right now. She came to the trailer door and slowly opened it.
