Chapter 03

It sent chills to Shayne when Waren whispered that to her. And even when she finally stepped back and she saw his grin, it made her frown. What on the actual hell? The first impression, the young man she's marrying is two-faced.

"Should we head back to the sitting room or do you two need some alone time together?" Angeline asked, giggling a bit.

"No!" "Yes!" They replied at the same time, making them glare at each other. Waren was quick to change his expression, looking at Angeline. "May I ask for our time alone? I'd like to get to know your daughter, Mrs. Taylor. I oath I'll return her at the end of the visit."

Angeline was pleased to hear the young man and plastered her sweet smile. "That's adorable! Please take care of her and I'll let your parents know."

"Of course!"

The moment Angeline was gone, both of their smiles slipped from their faces and they glare again at each other.

"You're not just rude, you're also a two-faced," she bluntly told him.

"I'll be honest, you aren't what I am expecting."

"Sorry to disappoint you," she sarcastically spewed, "but you are exactly how I pictured you in my mind."

"Hmm... at least I am not someone who was about to bounce and decides to let her parents down."

"They let me down first," she sneered. "If you're okay with this arranged marriage thing, well I'm not Raven!"

"It's Waren," he corrected.

"Whatever!" She rolls her eyes. "I have to go. You can tell them--"

"Let's drive," he cut her off, grabbing her wrist. "You don't want to be here. I don't want to be here so let's escape this."

"Let go of me! I can go on my own!" she yells, trying to shove his hand away but he has a strong grip on her wrist.

"At least pretend that we're having a good time. We'll separate outside."

It was an opportunity for Waren to meet up with Jezel and since this lady wants to get away, why don't they just make an agreement out of their situation?

Shayne gave it some seconds and decided to just follow her... is it safe to say fiance now? They are bound to get married but there was no ring, not even a proposal. She guessed it was coming especially now that their parents think that they were going to get along.

I shouldn't call this man a fiance, she thought. I can still run away from all of this.

Though it's precedent that she wouldn't like the man she was going to marry, it came as a surprise that she's running away with him at the moment of their pre-engagement.

Shayne glances as Waren was driving. They just pass through their big gates and she expected that he would pull over any moment now as they agreed to separate outside but he didn't. It created those thin lines between her brows.

"What are you doing?" she snapped.

"Obviously driving," he nonchalantly answered which made her roll her eyes. He noticed and added, "You won't be able to get a cab here unless you booked on a ride. It's better I drop you off somewhere you can get a ride."

"You didn't have to. I can book a ride."

"Sure," he uttered.

Since he said sure she waited for him to stop the car but it was later that she realized that was sarcasm. If she tries to open the door, that's too dramatic and she hates the drama.

"Shouldn't we talk to our parents and tell them we don't like each other?" she asked. That's like a better thing to do than do this. "We can just slap them with how much I don't like you and you don't like me."

"We do that and then what? You think I haven't told my parents that I wanted to marry someone else?"

Hearing that struck Shayne. She never liked women who came in between two people who are in love with each other. She hates a homewrecker. Now, she isn't just going to get engaged and marry soon, she's also going to be the reason two lovers would have to fall apart.

"You both can run away," she stated, her voice soft.

"As if I can do that," he scoffed. "Marrying you will save my parents' company and it's not just that, I can help my girlfriend's family with my parents' money."

So, that's why he seemed okay with this... but she isn't. There's no way she would forsake her peaceful single life for someone-- for anyone to be exact.

"Why don't you get a job."

"It won't be enough," he said, finally pulling over by a store's parking lot. Waren looks at her with a hardened gaze. "That's why I need you to marry me."
