5| Crazy hopes.

Axel stayed in the bar in search of the mysterious girl, desperately hoping she would appear in front of him.

But it’s been hours, and every single person in the bar has left.

She was not there.

With the disappointment coupled with frustration clawing at his chest, he left the bar.

For four weeks, he continued going to the bar in search of her. It became a daily routine. And he doesn’t leave until every single person in the bar has left. He doesn’t leave until he was sure that the mysterious girl who was threatening to drive him crazy was not there.

And each time, every night, he leaves the bar disappointed.

Today was no different. He went in search of her and left disappointed, with frustration clawing at his chest.

He hated her! He hated her for making him feel the way he did and for making him react to her in an alarming way. He hated her for leaving him with a hard on. He even hated her more for making him go to the bar to search for her.

And who the fuck does she think she is for not showing up?

Is he the only one wrapped up in this misery? He thought.

Angrily, he went back home to see his parents in the living room, waiting for him to return.

He glanced at his wristwatch when he sighted them.

"You should be sleeping." He said. "Why are you still up?"

"We’ve been waiting for you to return." His dad retorted.

"We refused to go to bed until you returned." His mother added

He inched closer to them. "And why is that?" He asked, raising his brow.

"Why are you just coming home? Where have you been?" His dad asked.

His mom rolled her eyes and adjusted herself in her seat. "If he had a wife, he wouldn’t stay out this late."

"Really mom? Are we still on this matter?"

"Yes!" His father spoke up. "When are you bringing a wife home?"

"Is this what this is about?" He asked, narrowing his eyes. "Is that why you stayed up late, waiting for me to come back?"

His parents were at it again. They’ve been pressuring him to get married and bear grandchildren for them. But he wasn’t ready.

They’ve set him up with women from prestigious families, but he doesn’t like any of them. None of them could make his cock throb the way that mysterious lady did.

"Yes, Axel!" His mother yelled. "Why don’t you want to get married? You are the heir to Perfect Touch Inc., and you need to get married and give birth to children."

"Yes. You have to produce an heir that would succeed you." His father added. "This legacy must live on!"

"I haven’t found the right person!" Axel raked his hand through his hair in frustration. "All the women I’ve met are all after my money and power."

His parents gawked at him in disbelief, recalling all the wealthy women they’d hooked him up with. Women he rejected without giving them any chance in his life.

"After your money?" His mother asked, laughing ridiculously. "The daughter of Mr. Barrington, one of the richest men in the world, is after your money and power?”

He lifted his shoulders in a half shrug. "I don’t like her."

"Exactly Axel!” His father exclaimed, leaping to his feet, the rage beneath his eyes palpable. "You’ve never liked anyone."

"That’s because I don’t react to them!" He said, but, of course, he didn’t say that out.

"Three months ago, you were going out with Chloe. What happened?" His father asked, raising a questioning brow. "I thought you’d finally found the girl who would give us grandchildren. only for us to find out that you guys had broken up. What happened?"

"She left me." He grunted.

Honestly, he was going to settle down with her just to satisfy his parents’ needs, not because he loved or reacted to her. But he enjoyed her company, and she was the perfect candidate for that course.

But she wanted more from him. She wanted him to react to her the way she did, and he couldn’t do that. It was out of his control.

He fucking made sure he always satisfied her. And he used to get hard enough to have sex with her and cum.

He doesn’t know why that wasn’t enough for her.

"That’s what you always say when we ask you that question, and you never tell us why she did. Why did she leave you?" His father asked, cutting through his thoughts.

Axel blew out a sharp breath. "You want grandkids, yeah?"

"Yes!" The two of them spoke in unison.

"I’m going to give you grandkids. I am going to fulfill your heart's desires." He told them, and their faces lit up. "I’ll impregnate a random girl and give the kids to you." He continued, and the hope his parents had when he made the first statement faded quickly.

"We don’t want that." His father barked. "You are not going to have a child out of wedlock."

"I already offered a solution, and you don’t want it." Axel snapped. "So, please stop bothering me about marriage."

"No, we are not going to stop!" His mother yelled, leaning back on her seat and crossing her arms over her chest.

"Fine." He muttered, with a surprisingly calm voice. "I’ll have to go far away from you then."

Confusion spread across her face. “What do you mean?" She asked.

"I’m leaving for London."

"Wait, what?" She asked, gawking at him.

"Are you serious?" His father questioned.

"Dead serious."

"No, you can’t do that." His father uttered, shaking his head vigorously . "What about the company? Who is going to take care of it?"

"I’ll oversee the company from our branch in London." He informed them. "I’ll use this opportunity to supervise the Europe project."

"You can’t leave us here." His mother mumbled, tears welling up in her eyes.

He was her only son, and she doesn’t know how she would survive with him being so far away from her. She wouldn’t get to see him often.

His father glared at him before slouching on the couch. He was also sad about his announcement, but he didn’t show it. He was trying to act tough.

"I’m leaving, and mind you; you chased me." He glanced up at his mother and saw how shiny her eyes were with tears. "Don’t worry, Mom, I’ll visit often." He softened his voice to soothe her, but he wasn’t going to change his mind.

The impulsive decision he made was not because of the pressure his parents were putting on him. That excuse was only a facade, although it was part of it.

He wanted to be away from the city. If he continued to stay in New York City, he was surely going to lose his mind.

He needed to be away from the city; he needed to stop having those crazy hopes that he might meet the mysterious lady somewhere.

He was never going to see her again, he thought. And he needed to rid his mind of those crazy hopes by going far away from the city.
