The sun was setting as Ash rested against a tree in their garden. Birds sang their evening songs and the love of his life rested with his head in Ash lap. A book in one hand and the other stroking through Adom hair, Ash couldn’t think of a moment more peaceful than the one he was in.
“Penny for your thoughts, darling,” Adom asked, looking up at him with beautiful eyes wide and concerned. “You were miles away there. I think you missed my story about Queen Elzi and her complicated requests for a gown.” Ash enjoyed Adom stories about different people and custom. The few he’d met didn’t strike him to be nearly as interesting as Adom described them, but he also knew his lover would wax poetic about him, in ways he would never deserve.
He smiled, “I’m sorry. You know I love your stories. Please forgive me.”

He looked outside the room for the third time in 20 minutes, he had a perfect view of the little boy with slightly wavy hair and light mahogany color, playing with a pile oflegoson the table in the living room.From the small study that he had set up, he could hear the boy making noises with his mouth, speaking so many things that Ash was not able to process at the moment.It was night, so there were a few lights on in the house living room, dining room, and study. He watches the boy for a few long seconds, letting out a sigh when he decided to look away. Be thankful that Jai is independent enough to be alone and quiet for a while, speaking of a 5 year old boy, it is a blessing that he is so calm. Although he would love to join his son, playing at night is like habit, especially since it is only the two of them at home.

Ash heard Adom laugh, pulling him completely out of his thoughts, which were of the possible detergents he could use to try to remove the stain. He looked forward again, how lucky he was to be so tall, so he didn't have to lift his head to look at Adom's face. They are close, not much but they are quite close.
