I kept my eyes on the woman, waiting for her response.

My grip was firm, but I was sure not to hurt her. I wasn’t the type to harm a woman, but I knew not to trust anything that came from Cosimo. And for the woman to quickly accept eloping when she didn’t even know me wasn’t normal, not in my eyes at least.
