Chapter 7

Hank had been typing up his resignation letter and hadn't even raised his head to look at her as he spoke.

He knew how stubborn Summer could be. So, he begrudgingly added, "Yes, we dated each other, but that's all in the past. The woman I love now is Simone, so please stop using our past relationship as an excuse to pester me."

Summer stood next to his work table, her eyes laser-focused on his fingers which were flying across his keyboard. She had to fight the urge to bash the ashtray on his table right over his head.

She never could've expected the man she had loved for so many years to be someone like this.

She must've been blind to ever love him in the first place!

"You're right. I'm nothing compared to the amazing woman that Simone is. Now that I've fallen from grace, it's easy for you to lose feelings for me, right?" she snapped sarcastically.

Summer forced back the rising emotions in her and squeezed a light smile on her face. Then, she turned to leave.

However, Hank's cold voice came from behind her. "You're hilarious. I'm sure you wouldn't be as understanding as you are now if Charter Corporation wasn't so close to ruin.

"You probably would have been screaming and yelling at me. You deserve everything that's happening to you right now. Maybe now you'll finally understand that only those who have power have the right to act however they want."

Hank had finally stopped typing and was now watching Summer mockingly.

Summer remembered finding him extremely attractive like this when they used to date, but now, all she felt was distaste.

She struggled to suppress her surging emotions. Hank got up from his seat and walked toward her. She took a few steps back in fear and bumped into a nearby document cabinet.

"Summie, I really did spend a lot of effort on you when we used to date. So, don't look at me like that … Do you know how attractive your pitiful expression is to me?" Hank crooned as he came closer with a smug expression.

He loomed over her oppressively. His expression had now turned to a teasing one as he placed one arm on the cabinet behind her for leverage. He then leaned his face closer to hers …

Summer tried to turn her face away, but he used his other hand to block her. Even when they were in the honeymoon phase of their relationship, he had never gotten this close to her.

He inched closer and closer to her teasingly and his heart raced as the anger and hatred dissipated.

Seeing how panicked Summer's expression was only served to rile him up more and he purred in her ear, "Admit it, Summie. You still love me."

Did he just insinuate that she still loved him?

Hank was so preoccupied with teasing Summer that he missed the icy look flashing across her face at his words. Without hesitation, she kicked him right in his nuts.

Hank crumpled over in pain. Summer shoved his limp body to the side before running to the door.

Summer frowned as she remembered the events in his office. She had underestimated just how shameless Hank could be. Not only did he cheat on her, but he also chose to betray Charter Corporation.

However, what really disgusted her was how he was still trying to seduce her after he broke up with her!

"What a jerk! Hank Lovell, you bastard!" she grumbled as she tossed her phone angrily to the ground.
