Chapter 0006

Snow said nothing and got into the car.

Kiran watched them leave. He then stuffed Harold’s phone number into his pocket.

It was useless to him. He did not even have a smartphone. He did not even know how to make a call using that device.

He was orphaned at a young age, and his master then brought him to Phoenix Hill. He studied medicine and martial arts under his master. He had only ever left Phoenix Hill to accompany his master, and this was the first time he was so far away from home.

Kiran watched the sunset. He had no place to stay and no money. So, he went to the train station and looked for a place to wait until the next day.

However, since he was wearing an Almani suit, he looked out of place at the train station.

Even so, he could do nothing about it. Harold had taken his old clothes away.

All he could do was sit down on the ground and lean against the wall to sleep.

Meanwhile, Snow glared at Harold with teary eyes once they returned to Harold’s study room in the Xander family’s mansion. She asked with great hurt, “Why did you do that?”

“Why did I do that? You know perfectly well why I did what I did. It’s entirely because of what you did, and you know what that is.” Harold’s expression was as dark as a thundercloud.

“I did it because I didn’t want to get married. Look at him! He looks like a barbarian! How can I possibly be married to him?” Snow asked in a choked-up voice.

“And so, you tricked him into wanting to cancel your engagement using a fake photo?” Harold demanded coldly.

“I…” Snow had nothing to say about that.

Harold said, “Given the chance, Kiran is the type of man who will rise to success. You might feel like he got lucky marrying you, since you’re richer and more powerful than he is, but you’ll soon realize that he’s out of your league.”

Snow scoffed in disdain.

“He has come down from Phoenix Hill, and now, Bayville is about to experience great change. As my granddaughter and his wife, you’re both bound to achieve great success in Bayville and even Dragonsland.”

“Have you lost your mind, Grandpa? He’s just a country bumpkin! He’s—”

“You’re not allowed to divorce Kiran. You’re also to acknowledge him as your husband tomorrow at the company,” Harold declared.

Snow felt so mortified that she started crying, “Grandpa…”

“Kiran is to have half of the Xander family’s businesses from now on.”

“Grandpa, you—”

“Also, help Kiran obtain Bayville Dragonsmount.”

“What?” Snow’s expression changed.

Bayville Dragonsmount was also known as Death Mountain because any family, no matter how strong they were, inevitably fell into decline the moment they had anything to do with Bayville Dragonsmount.

That had been the case since the York family, then the strongest family in Bayville twenty years ago.

Wait.

The York family… Kiran York?

Could it be…?

She whipped her head to face Harold, only to notice that his eyes had become watery.

“Grandpa, is Kiran—”

“Just remember that you’re Kiran’s wife. Don’t let me down.” Harold closed his eyes and said nothing else.

Snow trembled and felt a chill run down her spine.

Did the York family actually have any kin left?

Could Kiran be one of them?

Also, just how terrifying was their enemy?

At that thought, Snow suddenly became uncertain. She had wanted to humiliate Kiran and then get a divorce upon seeing him tomorrow, but she was not so sure now.

The next day, when Snow arrived at the company, she was anxious. She did not know how Kiran would propose canceling their engagement. How were they supposed to wrap this farce up?

At that moment, Kiran was at the company entrance.

Just as he was about to enter the company, he suddenly heard the roaring engine of a race car.

Fortunately, Kiran had quick reflexes. He quickly jumped out of the way. Otherwise, he would have met an early death.

The race car came to a halt, and a handsome man dressed in a white suit came out.
