ATTICUS POVRated R We sigh as we close the door to our office. After thirty-two calls all the Alphas have been informed of our new orders and plans. KARINA POV I hum quietly as I add another knickknack to the box. I have never been happier. After last night Atticus and I are on a whole new level. We not only opened our bodies, but we submitted to one another. He listened to what I needed and we grew as a couple. Our past trauma isn't holding us back. KARINA POV Adrenaline and hate rush through my veins as Layla gets within inches of my mom, but my feet remain frozen to the ground.None of my ideas give us a good outcome. ATTICUS POV Relief settles inside our gut as we head back out to confirm our plan with the warriors. Karina and her mother are safe and they were able to handle the threat themselves. But why there was a threat at all is still bothering us. "Where is she," we demand as we step outside to find a handful of waiting warriors. "The new cells. We kept her away from the long-term prisoners," one of the ex-agents answers and we nod. We begin to head in that direction and the warriors fall into step behind us. When we reach the new building we take a moment to look over the basic wooden prison structure. Unlike Thurman's pack, we decided not to have silver bars or beds installed. KARINA POV As Atticus rounds his desk and approaches me with concern clearly on his face, my control snaps. Tears I have been keeping at bay escape down my face and I begin to sob just as he pulls me against his chest."I am sorry. I am sorry I sprang that decision on you. We should have talked about it as equals first," Atticus apologizes with sincerity in his voice, but that only makes me cry harder.How can he not smell the change in my scent? ATTICUS POV "Are you sure you don't want me to come with you," Karina asks and our eyes drop to her stomach for half a second before we meet her eyes again. We shake our head. Even if she wasn't pregnant it would still be too dangerous for her to return to Outcast with us, but now with her being pregnant... No. Absolutely not happening. We barely trust them to allow us to visit safely. "Logan and his Beta Gavin will be accompanying me. If the humans try anything I will handle them. They believe their silver weapons make them invincible. They aren't aware they have very little effect on me," we reply with a little chest puffing to impress our pregnant mate. ATTICUS POV We stand as the train finally begins to slow. Many of the buildings that were smoking and falling down the last time we were here have been leveled, but the rest of Outcast seems the same as it was. Tall gleaming buildings and concrete pathways connecting them for miles. "Atticus, what's the plan if they become hostile," Logan says as he and Gavin move to stand on either side of us. "I will attack. The two of you will shift and get out as fast as you can. I will do my best to ensure you escape," we reply in a low voice while keeping our eyes trained on the passing scenery. "What about you," Gavin says quickly and we glance at the well-tempered Beta. His bond with his Alpha is the strongest we have ever seen. He treats Logan more like a brother rather than a superior, but at this moment he seems legitimately concerned for our well-being. His concern isn't for his Alpha or even for himself. He is taken aback by the danger we will be in... Seems we have another friend.
