My office is quiet, which is weird, considering everyone is present now. Cahir, Riordan, Kyran, Rowan, Kathal, dad, grandfather, Kynessie, Taylania, Suravi, Haven, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Aisling. Rowan has been staring at Aisling since she walked in and sat down. She has not once looked at him. I half expected her to walk in and reject him, but it is possible that what Kathal and Kynessie told her made her think about her actions. My little darkling is leaning against me as we sit in my office chair.

“I’m sorry about everything Aisling.” Rowan says.

I wasn’t expecting him to be the first to say anything, but it was a good thing it was him. Aisling still won’t look at him. My little sister is so fucking stubborn. She inherited that trait from our mother, who is the same way. It drives Dad crazy.

“I should have never taken that assignment.” Rowan tells her.
