Chapter 4: Fatty Ji

Lin Huai grabbed Zhang Chunyu's fist easily. He jabbed the soft hollow of Zhang Chunyu's arm, twisting it the wrong way. Zhang Chunyu screamed in agony as Lin Huai kicked him to the ground.

The other three people did not expect tall, well built Zhang Chunyu to be taken down by so quickly. They stood frozen. Without hesitation, Lin Huai slapped one of the students, sending him flying. He kicked the other two students to the ground with one leg.

“You really think you can mess with me when you're so weak?” he asked scornfully.

Zhang Chunyu covered his injured arm, his face was sore and pale and sweating. He set his jaw stubbornly.

“You bastard! You may be ruthless, but I won't give in!”

“Good, you have some backbone. I like people with resolve, so you'll get some special treatment!”

Lin Huai grabbed Zhang Chunyu by his hair and forced his head towards the urinal. Zhang Chunyu howled in pain as his hair was almost yanked out by Lin Huai.

The three students shuddered and were about to get up and run away.

“If anyone dares to move,” Lin Huai said coldly, “They can eat shit too!”

Under Lin Huai's vicious gaze, the three students didn't dare to move. This was not an ordinary fight. They weren't on Lin Huai's level.

Lin Huai dragged Zhang Chunyu to the urinal. It was unclear who took a dump and didn't flush it away. Zhang Chunyu stared at Lin Huai in disbelief.

“What the hell are you doing?”

Lin Huai patted Zhang Chunyu's face gently.

“Didn’t I just say it? Pick a fight with me, you might end up eating shit.”

“Impossible, how dare you ... I'll kick your ass!” Zhang Chunyu's face was pale, and he reached out with one of his hand to grab Lin Huai's wrist.

“Plenty of people can't accept death until they see their own coffin.” Lin Huai grabbed his head and slammed it on the ground. Zhang Chunyu's forehead tore open, bleeding profusely.

Zhang Chunyu had no strength to resist. Lin Huai grabbed his head and pressed it into the urinal.

“No, I'm Zhang Chunlei's brother!” Zhang Chunyu shouted.

“Ha! Never heard of him!”

The odor was clearly making Zhang Chunyu ill, and his reserve started to crumble.

“Brother Huai, I concede. I admit my faults to you. Today, you're the better man!”

Lin Huai threw him out of the urinal and he fell to the ground with a loud thud. Zhang Chunyu landed on the ground. Curled up on his side, he started to retch, tears running down his face.

“Don't mess with me again, or I won't be so kind next time,” Lin Huai said coldly.

“Brother Huai, I wouldn't dare. I won’t target you again!” Zhang Chunyu knelt on the ground, voice shaking with tears.

Zhang Chunyu's underlings also knelt down on the ground and kowtowed.

“We won’t ever dare to do it again! We won’t ever dare to do it again!” they promised, trembling.

Lin Huai opened the bathroom door. The two people watching the door were also shaking terribly. They hurriedly lowered their heads when they saw Lin Huai. Obviously, they'd been able to hear what happened in the bathroom.

Zhang Chunyu and the other students did not return to the class that day. The teachers didn't bother to ask where they were.

At noon, when class ended, Wei Qimian was called away by two girls. Lin Huai was her bodyguard, but he couldn't follow her too closely. Wei Qimian might think that he had less noble intentions. He decided to eat at the cafeteria alone.

Instead, he met Zhang Jindong and his underlings at the exit.

This underling was Mouse, the one who'd tried to make Lin Huai Zhang Jidong's ball carrier. He was also the who'd recruited Second Lei. The students in the corridors called him Brother Mouse. He was smug and arrogant at first, but when he saw Lin Huai, his expression twisted with rage.

“Where is Second Lei? Where did Second Lei go?” he yelled.

“Second Lei left after first period,” a student answered. “He probably went to slack off somewhere.”

“Damn it!” Mouse muttered. “When Second Lei comes back, remind him what he promised Brother Dong.”

Mouse scurried out of the room. As he passed Lin Huai, Lin Huai stretched out his leg, and Mouse landed right on his face.

The students in the corridor laughed loudly, then one by one averted their gaze. Computer science students didn't mess with sports students.

Mouse muttered something. When he raised his head, Lin Huai was staring down at him with cold eyes. He scrambled to his feet and ran outside, thinking Second Lei would come back and teach Lin Huai a lesson. Zhang Jindong planned to do it himself, but he'd been badly injured in the fight this morning. He had to rest for at least two days, so he'd planned to have somebody else do his dirty work.

After Mouse escaped, Lin Huai heard someone shouting for him. He looked back to see a chubby boy running to catch up. He bowed.

“Brother Huai, I’ll be your follower from now on.”

Lin Huai’s gaze was pleased.

“Haven't you noticed I have offended Zhang Jindong? And Zhang Chunyu isn't happy with me either.”

“I …” The boy hesitated, but he steeled his courage. “I'm not afraid.”

Lin Huai smiled. This guy was interesting.

“You can hang out with me, but don't call yourself my follower. I don't have any interest in being a school bully. In my opinion, the whole thing is ridiculous, but I can protect you.”

“Thank you Brother Huai!” the boy said, bowing repeatedly.

“Don't rush to thank me.” Lin Huai looked the boy over with suspicion. “I'm just a new transfer student who doesn't know how things work around here. I just started today, and I've already offended someone powerful. Why did you choose to follow me?”

The boy looked around, lowering his voice. There was something sly in his expression.

“You beat up Second Lei during recess, right?”

“How did you know?” Lin Huai asked, surprised. The boy chuckled. “Hurry up and tell me.”

“Actually, when the Mouse came to talk to Second Lei, I could tell they were up to something. When you went into the bathroom, Second Lei drove everyone out, but you were still inside.”

So the kid had some brains after all.

“Maybe they taught me a lesson. How do you know it was me who beat up Second Lei?”

“There were people to keep watch at the door. I didn't dare stay there for too long, but you're the only one who came back to class. You look perfectly fine, so Second Lei must have suffered a major loss.”

Lin Huai wrapped his hands around the boy’s shoulders and walked downstairs. The boy grinned at the sign of approval.

“I am curious, have you ever wanted to be someone else's underling before?” Lin Huai said. “Do you want to be my underling because I am better than Second Lei?”

“If you're better than Second Lei, I won't be bullied.” he replied gloomily. “I have been beaten three times since the beginning of school. They saw that I was chubby and like to bully me when they have nothing better to do. I wanted to be Second Lei's underling, but he said that I was too short and fat to be useful.”

Lin Huai smiled,

“How narrow minded. Someone’s capability isn’t reflected by their appearance. What's your name?"

Ling Huai didn’t want to collect lackeys like a bully He needed to protect Wei Qimian, and having people on his side could help. This guy wasn't a fighter, but he was perceptive. Information was useful too.

“Brother Huai, you're really accepting me? My name is Pu Chengji, but everyone calls me Fatty Ji."

“Fatty Ji, help me keep an eye on Wei Qimian, okay? If anyone bullies her, tell me right away.”

Park Chengji gave a knowing smirk.

"She'd be a good match for you, wouldn't she?"

Lin Huai didn't deny it. It was easier if he misunderstood anyways.

Pu Chengji chatted about the many wonderful traits of Wei Qimian. For example, it was easy to see she was from a rich family, and her academic performance was stellar. She'd placed first in the class's monthly exam and was considered to be the princess of the freshman year.

For all Pu Chengji said, he didn't seem aware that Wei Qimian was the daughter of Wei Sihai. Lin Huai wasn't sure if even the teachers knew.

The two chatted as they walked into the cafeteria, and Pu Chengji pointed forward, eyes wide.

“Fairy ... Fairy Qi ... She ... She was smiling at me. I didn't expect that I, Pu Chengji, would finally have a bit of luck. One of the four princesses of the freshman year…”

Lin Huai looked up. The pretty girl whom he'd asked for directions from this morning was walking over, looking at him passionately. Her smile was mesmerizing.
