Chapter 4 A Substitute

The dishes made by Kristen could make a person lie on the hospital bed for two days at times.

“Ethan, come on. If you don’t come back today, then don’t come back in the future.”

After hanging up the phone, Kristen snorted.

Jacob, who was driving, was surprised by what just happened again.

Ethan was the president of TNK Group. He controlled the lifeblood of Nangania’s businesses, and everyone was respectful to him.

Only Kristen would dare to speak to him like that.

Kristen first went to the mall, then returned to the villa. She refused the housekeeper’s help and was busy alone in the kitchen.

At about five o’clock in the evening, steak and noodles were placed on the table.

A smile appeared in Kristen’s beautiful eyes. She felt that she was a great cook.

She hummed a tune while taking a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet and pouring it into the glass. Then, she went upstairs to change into a delicate black dress.

When she went downstairs, the doorbell of the villa rang, and the housekeeper Mike Green went to open the door.

Kristen was confused as Ethan could unlock the door with his fingerprint. Who was it?

She heard Mike say unhappily, “I’m sorry, Mr. Collins, but you’re not welcome here.”

“I have something to say.”

“Ethan is not here. You can come next time if you’re here for him.”

“I’m here for Kristen,” the man said in a low voice.

Kristen, who was sitting on the sofa, paused. “Is he here for me?”

“Uncle Mike, let him in.”

Mike hesitated for a moment before letting the man in.

The man was wearing a gray suit.

He looked a little similar to Ethan since he was Ethan’s half-brother, Steve Collins. They had the same father.

“What can I do for you?”

About half an hour later, Ethan’s car slowly appeared at the gate of the villa.

He walked into the villa and saw Kristen sitting at the dining table with her chin resting on her hand. She seemed to be thinking about something.

Mike walked over and whispered, “Ethan, Mr. Collins came here just now. I don’t know what he said to Miss Healey.”

Ethan narrowed his eyes when he heard this, and a trace of displeasure flashed across his handsome face.

He walked over and saw the dishes on the table, then he paused.

“Did you make these by yourself? Good, it seems that your cooking has improved.”

Kristen ignored his words and handed him a photo.

“Who is this?”

The woman in the photo wore a white dress. She was innocent and beautiful though she wore no makeup. Her facial features were particularly similar to Kristen’s.

A wisp of gloominess flashed on Ethan’s face.

He touched Kristen’s head and said in a mellow voice, “It’s none of your business. Don’t worry about what Steve said. Let’s eat.”

Kristen removed the man’s hand. She looked like a hedgehog at that moment.

Kristen said coldly, “Ethan, how could this have nothing to do with me? Did you keep me as your mistress because I look like your ex-girlfriend? Who would have thought Mr. Wharton has an unforgettable ex?”

Steve’s voice slowly sounded in her ears, “Kristen, you’re just a substitute. Ethan has never had such a relationship with any woman over the years. You’re the only one because you look like her.”

What a joke!

She thought that Ethan fancied her beauty as well.

But, as the daughter of the Oliver family, she became someone else’s substitute, which was unbearable to her!

Ethan’s deep voice sounded in her ear, “Kristen, remember who you are.”
