After breakfast, Vincent also had to go out; before he left, he instructed the servants to stay and talk to me to be less sad.

"I'll be back in the afternoon." Vincent kissed me lightly on the forehead and got into the car.

I watched until the car disappeared, then returned to the house and sat down on the sofa with a cold heart. I suddenly thought, if I had met Vincent earlier, how good it would be without animosity between him and me.
