LAVINIA'S POV

Ara and I ran to the Atrium as fast as we could. We finally arrived there and watched with bated breath as Linette and Maertisa were just about to serve the food.

Elva glared daggers at us, expecting us to explain ourselves.

"You're late." She deadpanned and Ara just kept quiet, leaving me to speak.

"I'm….." I attempted to speak but she cut me off.

"I understand that Lavinia just arrived yesterday so it may take her a bit of time to adjust to things around here but even at that, I will not condone tardiness. I certainly didn't expect this from you, Araxie.

You've been here a while and you know the rules, you should be punished in order to serve as a warning to the others." Elva spat, her eyes never leaving us.

Ara shrinked backwards and she almost looked like she was holding back tears. I felt bad at this because if I hadn't insisted, she wouldn't have wasted time by chatting with me in my room.

I can't let her be punished for my mistake.
