Chapter 08: Royal Duty

Luveas was seen inhaling and exhaling deeply, taking his time. Then, came his reply in the form of a question, “When have I said I am one of them?”

Amethyst felt her whole body shivering. Her heart palpitated. “Stay away from me,” she hissed at him.

Nothing seemed pleasant when they were inside a room that looked like a cage. At any minute, this man, no, this vampire could attack and tear at her neck.

“Amethyst, I am not going to harm you.” Luveas paced forward.

“Get out of my sight!” Amethyst shouted and scooted to the other end of the bed, holding a pillow dear to her chest.

“Amethyst-”

“Get out!”

Luveas ignored her shouting command as he lifted the veil, and he saw her cowered at the end of the bed.

“Amethyst," he said, "I’m sorry for not telling you about myself. I didn’t mean to hide it. I thought of telling you soon, but given your situation, I thought I ought to hide it. But, trust me, I won’t hurt you. I am different from the other vampires for I have the power to protect you
