Chapter Fourteen

What the hell?

Cesar’s eyes widened as a memory came to him. It was six years ago at Catherine Waldorf’s masquerade ball. He’d been invited even though he wasn’t as wealthy as he is now, he’d mingled around meeting new people and getting acquainted with top bosses in the business world when he saw her.

She stood in a corner, dressed in a purple armless gown with a silver mask on and she was talking to a lady and she had a glass of champagne in her hand. The other lady said something and she let out a tinkering laugh that went straight to his gut.

He knew he had to have her then but he was ambushed by Catherine who wanted him to meet her lovely daughter…but honestly the girl had an uncanny resemblance to queen jezebel in the bible.

For politeness sake he’d stopped to talk to Cathy’s daughter and when he turned to look at the lady in the purple gown...she was gone.

He cursed and went in search of her but couldn’t find her anywhere which made him frustrated. He almost gave up and was about to return to the ballroom when he saw the silhouette of someone hugging herself on the terrace so he went out through the French doors to see who it was. It was his purple lady.

“You okay?”. He asked from behind her.

She whirled around to look at him in surprise because she’d not heard him come up behind her.

“Where did you come from?”. She asked with wide eyes.

“Through the doors." He jerked his head towards the doors.

“Oh." She said. "I’m uh fine. Thanks for asking.” She looked down at her feet. She wondered silently what a gorgeous man like himself was doing talking to someone like her. She was pretty but her face wasn't the kind that would easily attract a man's attention. She hoped this wasn't a dream though because it'd hurt so bad if it was.

Cesar pulled off his coat and put it around her when he saw her shiver.

“Thanks.” She smiled at him. "I forgot my jacket somewhere.” She mumbled.

“Do you...want to dance?”. He asked.

“I’d love to but um..I’m a terrible dancer." She made a face. "I’ll step on your toes and hurt you.” She had two left feet so she never bothered to learn how to dance. The one boy that had asked her at her high school dance all those years ago regretted his decision after she injured his toes with her shoes.

“I’ll take my chances.” He smiled and held out his hand. "Come on." He urged her when she still hesitated. "I won't bite."

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” She warned playfully, wore his jacket then placed her hand in his.

Cesar jerked her towards him making her gasp. He placed his hand on her waist and when she placed hers on his shoulder, he started to dance.

Neither said a word as they stared into each other’s eyes – electric blue to brown. Cesar slowed down dancing and stopped altogether but Elyon didn’t seem to notice as she was lost in his eyes.

She wished he’d kiss her and when she noticed him lowering his head, she didn’t hesitate to meet him halfway and crashed her lips to his in a passionate kiss.

“Want to get out of here?”. He whispered in her ear as he nuzzled her neck.

Elyon nodded her head. Following him anywhere was against the principles her father had taught her. He was a stranger and she shouldn't even be dancing with him but here she was, thinking of illicit things she'd like him to do to her.

Now the rest of that night was a blur because they’d gone to a hotel, danced some more, drank more champagne and then…he really couldn’t remember much but that night had been the best night of his entire life even though he’d bedded a virgin.

Why?Ellie,why?!

Cesar set the pictures aside and picked up the papers. They contained information about her date of birth, her parents dates of birth, their deaths and then.. Miesa’s birth certificate.

Cesar read the paper and growled when he came across the father’s name which had no name. It was blank which made him see red.

He threw the paper aside and picked up the pictures again to look through them and stumbled upon one of Elyon heavily pregnant. The picture had been taken at a wedding ceremony and no matter how Ellie tried to hide her huge belly…she couldn’t.

She’d gotten pregnant.

Cesar knew Miesa was five going on six at the end of the month which meant that it was either Ellie had been pregnant when they met or Miesa was his.

He leaned back in his chair and ran his hands over his face tiredly. He rose from his seat and left his office. He would not subject himself to this torture so he’d wait till tomorrow to talk to Ellie and she’d better talk or else…he’d unleash hell on her.

“Are you okay?”. Aisha signed when he slumped down on the sofa beside her.

“I’m fine. He smiled faintly. "Work stuff.”

“Need a head massage?”.

“Yes please.” He sighed in relief. He needed to de-stress and which other way to do so than to enjoy the magical hands of Aisha. He was glad he'd helped her when he did and he wasn't just saying that because she was a wonderful masseuse. Her type could've fallen into the hands of the wrong man and he'd have destroyed her.

Aisha smiled and got to work massaging his scalp and temples.

Yes, he’d definitely talk to Ellie tomorrow. He'd get his answers and then what? Tomorrow would tell.
