Chapter 2: Rescued from her mother.

"Ahhh!" Samantha yelled in anger, and she threw her pillow away.

She heard footsteps running up the stairs and a few moments later, the door to her room busted open and a man walked in.

"What's wrong, honey?" The man asked.

"It's Kia, Dad," Samantha answered. And as soon as her dad heard that the reason behind her anger had to do with her best friend, he frowned.

"What did that witch do to her this time?" He asked. His daughter and Kiandra had been friends since they were both kids and all he could say was that he felt sorry for the young girl.

It was still puzzling to him as to how a mother could treat her own child so poorly and brutally.

It even reached the point where his own daughter who had lost her mother when she was five thought that it was better not to have one after seeing Kiandra's own.

He had tried so many times to get the girl away from the evil woman but each time, Kiandra would choose to go back as she didn't want to leave her mother.

The day he got angry and wanted to call child support, she pleaded with him not to and even threatened that she would do something to herself if he took her away from her mother.

"I don't know Dad and I'm scared," Samantha said.

"I went there yesterday and accidentally broke one of the old witch's antiques and Kiandra decided to take the blame," she narrated to her father.

Samantha knew how cruel the witch was and to what lengths she would go if Kiandra's mother found out about what she broke.

And if the witch's boyfriend was present, the asshole would only add fuel to the fire.

"Try calling her home line," Samantha's dad urged.

"That's what I've been doing Dad but no one is answering and I don't have any other way of reaching her as she doesn't have a phone!" Samantha exclaimed.

"It is already three o'clock and I have been trying to reach her since last night," she added.

"Get dressed, we're going there," her dad said.

Samantha quickly got off her bed and grabbed a jacket from her closet. "Let's go," she said.

She and her dad headed downstairs and straight to their car. "Once she finally turns eighteen, I'll force her to move into our house and leave the old witch!" Samantha stated as her dad's car pulled out of their driveway.

Lucas heard a knock on his door while he was getting ready for the meeting.

He quickly wore his shirt and went to open it. When he saw that it was Liam outside his door, he frowned.

Regardless, he walked away and allowed him to walk into his room. "What do you want?" Lucas asked and started buttoning his T-shirt up.

"Aww, please leave your shirt unbuttoned, I want to drool over your abs," Liam said dreamily as he feasted his eyes on Lucas' abs.

"Eww, get out of my room and stay the hell away from me!" Lucas exclaimed in horror and disgust at the same time.

He quickly turned the other way and finished getting ready.

"Oh baby, I can't hide it anymore, I'm attracted to you," Liam said and he tried to move close to Lucas while making kissing gestures at him

"If you get close to me, I swear I'll punch you,” Lucas threatened and he backed away from Liam who had ignored his threat.

“Come here baby, I know that the reason you kidnapped me was that you wanted to spend some time with me,” Liam said and he slowly moved even closer to Lucas.’

Annoying and creeping the hell out of Lucas was Liam’s way of getting revenge. Upon seeing the horrified expression on Lucas’ face, couldn't keep up the act and he bursted into uncontrollable laughter.

“Fuck you man,” Lucas cursed in irritation.

“With pleasure, when and where do you want to do it?” he said with a mischievous smile on his face.

‘I really shouldn’t have brought this asshole here,’ Lucas said inwardly and he finished getting ready.

“How long is this meeting supposed to last?” Liam asked in a serious tone as he had gotten into his COO persona.

As playful as he was, he knew when it was time to get serious and when to draw the line between play and work. Now was one of those times.

“It all depends on the people we are going to meet and how difficult they may or may not want to be,” Lucas answered.

“And I assume you have a Plan B in case they want to prove to be difficult,” Liam probed.

“Hmmm,” Lucas nodded. He always had a Plan B and whether he would use it would depend on those he was meeting.

He then turned and walked up to the safe inside the room. After punching in the passwords , he opened it and brought out a file, one that contained his Plan B.

“This should be more than enough to make them do exactly as we want,” he said sinisterly.

Liam opened the file and he started reading through it. And the further he read, the wider the grin on his face became. The file contained information about the investors that they wouldn’t want anyone to find out about.

“Well then, looks like it is a done deal,” Liam remarked, closing the files. “And after the meeting, I’m going to have some fun,” he said.

Lucas rolled his eyes as he knew what Liam was talking about. “We came here to attend a meeting and close a deal and not to have fun,” he chided.

“Yeah, the meeting is already a done deal and I deserve to relax for all the hard work I put into the deal,” Liam shrugged.

Hard Work?! Lucas scoffed inwardly. Liam wasn’t even going to do anything. All he had to do was to sit down and watch the employees make the presentation. The guy would look for any excuse to have fun.

“It’s time for us to get going,” Lucas said and Liam immediately stood up. The sooner they got started, the sooner the meeting would end.

Samantha and her dad finally arrived at Kiandra’s house. Samantha bolted out of the car and rushed to the door. Her dad was closely behind her and he started banging on the door.

It took a few moments for the door to open and when it did, it was a shirtless Stephan who opened the door. A frown appeared on his face when he saw the father and daughter at the door.

His experiences with them hadn’t always been so great. This was mainly due to the fact that Samantha's father was a military man who was highly trained and he and May always tried to avoid them at all costs.

“What do you want, Mr. Fort?” he asked Samantha’s dad coldly.

“Where is Kiandra?” Samantha asked him, straight to the point.

“I have no idea,” Stephan answered.

“Wrong answer,” Samantha said and she stepped aside so her dad could swing into action. As soon as his daughter was out of the way, Mr. Fort immediately landed a punch on Stephan.

The guy who wasn’t expecting it, staggered backwards and the two used the opportunity to enter the house. Stephan slowly recovered from the punch and his eyes turned cold and he proceeded to retaliate.

However, Samantha, who had expected it, grabbed a vase as that was the closest thing she could grab and she broke it against his neck before he could reach her dad. That was the last straw for Stephan as he immediately lost consciousness.

“Samantha Fort!” Her dad exclaimed when he saw what she had done.

“What is going on… Ahhhh!” May yelled when she saw her boyfriend lying unconscious on the floor. “Desmond, how dare you barge into my house and do this,” she seethed with rage.

“Ahh, here comes the mother of the century,” Desmond rolled his eyes sarcastically.

Samantha left the two in the living room and she proceeded to look for Kiandra. “Kia where are you?” she asked as she entered her room.

Her friend wasn’t there and her stomach immediately twisted into a knot as she already suspected where Kiandra was.

Without wasting time, Samantha quickly headed to the basement. When she got there she saw that it was locked. She quickly went back to the living room where she saw May trying to get Stephan to wake up while her dad was seated on one of the couches looking lazily at them.

She heaved a sigh of relief as her dad's action told him that Stephan wasn't dead.

“Have you found Kiandra? Desmond asked when he saw his daughter approaching him.

“She’s in the basement but it’s locked,” Samantha told her father.

“Give me the key!” Desmond immediately demanded from May.

“Over my dead body,” May spat out in disgust. “You two are going to jail for breaking into my house and assaulting my boyfriend,” she said.

“Is that so?” Desmond asked with a bored expression on his face. This woman was really an idiot to actually think she could send him to jail.

“Yes, thankfully your daughter is already eighteen which means that she is eligible to go to jail,” May sneered.

Desmond, who had been looking bored all this time, sat up and his expression turned cold. He raised his shirt up and brought out a gun. He quickly removed a silencer from his pocket and put it on the gun.

“That will only happen if you two make it out of here alive,” Desmond said. “Come here,” he instructed Samantha. The latter quickly walked up to her father and she stood behind him.

May’s eyes widened in horror upon seeing the gun and she moved back. “The key to the basement,” Desmond demanded once again.

“Y-you c-can fire the… Ahhh!” May shrieked in horror when Desmond fired the gun. The bullet passed by May and went into the wall behind her.

“I won’t miss the next time and I promise I’ll blow your brain to bits, now where is the key?!” he asked.

“It’s in my purse,” May quickly answered. “The purse is in my room.”

Samantha immediately rushed into May’s room and she found the purse. Without wasting any time, she rushed to it and brought out the key.

“I have the key dad,” She yelled to her dad and she rushed to open the door to the basement.

The basement was dark when she opened it. She quickly put on her phone’s flashlight and to her horror, she found Kiandra unconscious.

“Dad, I found her, she’s unconscious,” she yelled and she quickly went to her friend.

“Kia, wake up!” Samantha said and she shook Kiandra, trying to get her to wake up. A few seconds later, her dad came into the basement and without wasting time, he immediately picked her up and carried her out.

He proceeded to take her out of the house but he was stopped by May. “Don’t you dare kidnap my daughter!” she yelled.

“If only you knew the meaning of that word,” Desmond sneered. He then turned to his daughter. “Call child services and report a bad mother to them,” he instructed his daughter.

“No!” May yelled and she quickly moved out of the way. She knew the trouble it would cause her if child services were to investigate the matter.

Desmond glared at her one last time before taking Kiandra out of the house. “One of these days, you’ll pay for all you’ve done to her, you bitch!” Samantha sneered before leaving the house.

“Dad we have to get her to the hospital,” Samantha said as they pulled out of the driveway.

“There’s no need for that,” came the low voice of Kiandra. She opened her eyes and lifted her head from Samantha’s legs.

“Kia, you're awake,” Samantha exclaimed in relief.

“Hmm, yes I am awake,” Kiandra answered.

“Child, we have to get you to the hospital,” Desmond said.

“No, I’m fine,” Kiandra argued. “I only lost consciousness because I was scared.”

“But Kia…” Samantha started but Kiandra cut her words short.

“I’m not spending my eighteenth birthday in the hospital,” Kiandra said, reminding Samantha of the fact that her birthday was less than forty eight hours from that time.

Desmond didn’t try to coerce Kiandra upon hearing what she said. “Fine, but we are taking you home,” he said firmly, not wanting Kiandra to try to argue.

She didn’t even plan on arguing. She was done with that woman who called herself her mom. There was no way she would ever change. May would forever think of her as the girl who ruined her life and she was done trying to please her.

“Yay, I can’t finally wait for you to turn eighteen so we’ll be finally able to go clubbing,” she whispered into Kiandra’s ears and the latter chuckled.

“What are you two whispering to yourselves,” Desmond asked suspiciously.
