Chapter Eight: Atlas

The day didn’t go according to plan, but I got to spend time with Eleanor and I found some things out that probably no one else knows. My parents and I were about to sit down for dinner when there was a knock on the door. It’s a little strange for us to be bothered during this time, but one of the housekeepers will answer the door.

“I’m sorry to bother you, but I need to speak with Atlas.”

Eleanor’s voice faintly floated through into the kitchen and I quickly got up.

She was standing at the door, wiping tears off her face.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know where else to go.”

“Don’t apologize. Come here,” I said as I pulled her into my chest.

“What happened?”

“I’ll tell you, but I need somewhere to stay tonight.”

“You can stay here. We have plenty of guest rooms.”

“Thank you,” she sniffled.

“ Do you want to tell me what happened?“

“Apparently my parents made a deal with Ben’s family and they expect me to follow through with mating with him.”
