Burglary In Alpha's House

*Selena*

I saw a woman with an angry expression striding toward us. She wore a knee-length black skirt and a suit jacket, and she seemed unfamiliar to me. Her presence exuded authority, and it was evident that she held a position of power.

"Please, get up. Please!" I gently held the shoulders of the omegas, pleading with them. "Thank you so much for your love, but I am not your Luna anymore," I smiled meekly, touched by their loyalty.

"Let's get back to work before we get into trouble. The matron is coming," I informed them, keeping a watchful eye on the approaching figure.

"What's going on here, you lazy asses? Listen to me carefully. If dinner is not ready on time, you will all face the consequences," the lady threatened, her tone stern and imposing.

"We are sorry. We are returning to work quickly," I replied on behalf of the omegas, urging them to follow me back to their tasks.

"You!" The woman pointed at me, summoning my attention.

"Me?!" I questioned, gesturing to myself with a confused expression.

"Yes, you!" she asserted, her name "Eden" displayed on her badge. "Luna Avery's butler!"

I walked up to her, trying to maintain composure in the face of her authoritative demeanor.

"Now get some rules straight in your filthy brain," she scowled. "Don't attempt to create unions, and don't instigate anyone here. You are here to work, and you'll be provided with a list of tasks for the day. If you cannot complete them all, you will face consequences," she warned, her eyes narrowing with severity.

I nodded, absorbing her message, and she waved me off dismissively.

"Luna!" Lola called out as I entered the kitchen.

"It's Selena, Lola," I gently corrected her with a warm smile.

"Errr... Selena!" she blushed, a hint of shyness in her demeanor.

"You don't have to do anything. I will take care of everything for you. Just let me know, and consider your work done," she offered sweetly, touching my heart with her kindness.

"Thank you, Lola! That's very thoughtful of you. But I have to do my work on my own. I need this job," I replied softly, my eyes appreciating her gesture.

"I understand," she agreed, her smile still as warm and genuine as ever.

"Where are Zander's mother and sister?" I asked curiously, realizing that I hadn't seen them in the pack house since my arrival. Memories of Blair, Zander's sister, wandering around the pack house flashed in my mind. Unfortunately, Zander's father, who had never accepted me as his son's mate, had passed away shortly after our marriage. It was a devastating blow for us all. On his way back to the pack after visiting a neighboring one, he was attacked by rogues and tragically killed. Zander was left devastated, blaming himself for his father's untimely death.

"The Alpha King has sent his sister for higher studies, and his mother went with her," Lola informed me.

I nodded, understanding the reasoning behind their absence.

"That makes sense. So, the Alpha King is living alone here with his mate," I concluded.

"His mate?!" Lola knitted her eyebrows in confusion.

I emphasized, "Your new Luna, Avery?!"

"No, Selena. Avery is not his mate. From what I've heard, it seems the Alpha agreed to marry her because the council of elders put a lot of pressure on him to choose a Queen. After all, as per the rules, a King cannot rule alone. He needs his Queen to rule beside him," she revealed, leaving me stunned.

They had always been so close that it was easy to assume they were destined mates. Nevertheless, the love they shared mattered more than any bond, whether fated or not. Still, I couldn't help but wonder why fate didn't pair them as mates when they seemed so similar and connected.

"And Avery is the most suitable bride for him," I remarked, mulling over the revelation.

Lola nodded, agreeing with my observation.

"Lola, where is Dr. Anderson nowadays? She used to be my doctor. I was thinking of meeting her," I asked hesitantly, my mind drifting back to the doctor who had once delivered the most wonderful news of my life – my pregnancy. I wanted to know why she had never informed Zander about it. If he had known, he would have moved heaven and earth to make me regret running away with his child.

"Dr. Anderson was found dead in her clinic the day you left," Lola informed me matter-of-factly.

My heart skipped a beat. "What?!" I gasped, horror washing over me.

"No one found out the cause of her death in her clinic. It is still a mystery," she shrugged, her voice tinged with a mix of uncertainty and eerie acceptance.

Goosebumps prickled on my skin as the chilling reality of this palace sank in. It had always given me eerie vibes, but now, with the news of Dr. Anderson's unexplained death, the atmosphere seemed even more unsettling.

Behind those thick and tall walls of the packhouse, there seemed to be an abundance of secrets lurking. However, I had no interest in uncovering them. My sole focus was on completing my job and leaving this place as swiftly as possible.

After finishing all the tasks in the packhouse kitchen, everyone retired to their rooms, and I quietly made my way to my assigned chamber. Locking the door behind me, I retrieved my laptop from my suitcase and connected it to the portable wifi. I logged into the dark website, where I communicated with an anonymous user – the one who had hired me for a clandestine task.

A message promptly popped up on the screen.

*Have you reached there?*

*Yes.* I replied, and the chat instantly became active, as if the anonymous user was waiting all the time for me to answer.

*When will you start?*

*Tonight.*

*Good.*

I quickly signed off, mindful of the risks involved in prolonged online activity. Avery believed she was doing me a favor by offering me this job, but little did she know that it provided the perfect cover for my true mission – hacking into the world's most secure and powerful security system, the Moonglow pack's.

I had planned meticulously to ensure that no one would ever suspect me of this audacious endeavor. Under the guise of being a humble omega, I could carry out my covert work without raising any suspicions.

Silently, I sneered at Avery's unknowing assistance, recognizing that her decision to let me stay here had played into my hands perfectly. Now, I could operate in the shadows, and the blame, if any, would never fall on me.

As the security guards around the control room changed shifts, I seized the opportunity. With my laptop in hand, I stealthily moved through the hallways, keeping an eye on the clock. I had only a brief fifteen-minute window, but for someone with my skills, it was more than enough. Hacking into their security system would be as easy as snapping my fingers.

Guards usually patrolled the packhouse, but inside, everything was calm as everyone had retired to their rooms for the night. Carefully, I slid across the floor, hiding whenever I sensed someone approaching. My destination was the basement, where the security room was located.

I found a secluded corner and slipped behind a pillar, ensuring no one could spot me accidentally. The door to the security room was highly secure, requiring only Zander's biometric to open. Inside, all the confidential details about the Moonglow pack's security and the North were stored on the main computer. The room was designed to be soundproof, bulletproof, blastproof, and even fireproof.

Summoning my courage, I opened my laptop and began attempting to crack the passcode for the security room door. It was a daunting task, and my first attempt failed. Undeterred, I persisted and tried again. The locking system proved to be incredibly challenging to hack. After ten unsuccessful attempts, I felt frustrated and angrily slammed my laptop shut. The sound echoed in the silence, and I anxiously looked around, relieved that no one seemed to have noticed.

The guards were about to return to their posts, so I knew I had to leave before they caught me. With a sigh, I realized one day at the Moonglow Pack had been wasted. I carefully made my way back to my room, feeling the eerie calmness of the packhouse sending shivers down my spine. Pushing aside those unsettling feelings, I hurried inside my room and locked the door behind me.

Now, what?

I couldn't waste my remaining days in this pack just trying to crack the code for the entry door of the security room. I had to complete the job before the cruel Alpha King returned.

But how?!

Lying on my small bed with a worn-out mattress beneath me, I couldn't sleep. It wasn't because of the uncomfortable mattress but rather the thoughts that kept me awake. My first worry was how I would gain access to the security room.

Maybe I should try again tomorrow.

No, I couldn't waste another day. I had to do it as soon as possible and leave this palace. But how could I get inside the security room?

How to get inside the...

Closing my eyes, I kept chanting in my head, trying to find a solution. Suddenly, my eyes snapped open as an idea glinted in my mind.

The key!

Yes, I remembered seeing the key to the security room with Zander once. He had it made as a precaution for the future after the biometric bar was destroyed. It would be in his room, and I knew where he used to hide all the important things.

With this new hope, I quickly got up and decided to head to the second floor, where Zander's room was located. It was a dangerous task, but luck was on my side as Zander, his mother, and his sister were not present. So, the whole floor would be vacant.

Though it was risky, I never feared danger.

In a swift and stealthy manner, I reached the second floor, staying hidden from the watchful eyes of the guards. Thanks to my small size and a spray that masked my scent, I managed to remain undetected.

With a pounding heart, I gripped the doorknob and carefully twisted it. The door opened with a faint click. The room was pitch dark, and I had to find the key without turning on the lights to avoid drawing attention. I used the flashlight on my mobile phone to begin my search.

To begin with, I searched high and low in his wardrobe, among his clothes, under clothes, and even on top of clothes, but the key was nowhere to be found. I checked the bedside table, beneath the mattress, and under the bed, but the key remained elusive. Exhausted and disappointed, I slumped down on the bed. Suddenly, I heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.

It struck me that someone else must be in the room, sneaking into the King's private quarters and now luxuriating in his shower. The audacity of it!

You know what they say – curiosity kills the cat.

Leaving my fruitless search behind, I decided to confront this bold intruder head-on. I wanted to catch them red-handed before they spotted me. I tiptoed towards the bathroom, preparing to expose the person who dared to enter the King's domain without permission.

Without hesitation, I turned the knob of the bathroom door and swiftly entered, hoping to catch the thief by surprise.  But before I could see the face of the intruder, I was pinned on the shower wall in a snap, a large hand tightly wrapped around my waist and a big hand on my neck, squeezing the life out of me. My breathing stopped as the air left my lungs when a huge, hard, naked, dripping-wet body pressed firmly against my petite figure, pushing me hard to the shower wall. I struggled, twisting my body, trying to wriggle out. My hands tried to push him with all my strength.

Then, I looked up. My terror-filled eyes met the scariest blue ones burning with anger and the world seemed to stop spinning. The overpowering scent of forest and earth after rain engulfed me, making me forget to breathe.

His touch felt like fire against my skin, causing my heart to race at double speed.

His strong jaw clenched tightly before he growled, "Selena?!"
