Chapter Four

We followed the lady down multiple halls before she finally stopped in front of a door.

"Lady Avril this is your stop. Warrior Alejandro has requested to Bring you to his room."

I looked at Avril to see her eyes narrow at the woman in front of her.

"You can tell Alejandro that is inappropriate. Tell him to meet me in the lounge," she said as she spun on her heel walking away with her chin raised proudly.

That girl is too bloody stubborn, I thought chucking. She probably doesn't even know where she's going.

The lady in front of me sighed before her eyes glazed over giving me the impression she was mind linking someone. Probably notifying Alejandro of his defiant mate.

I smiled at her when she looked at me causing her to smile back before she started walking again. I recognised these halls as we walked the same path earlier coming to Alpha Axel's office. I placed a hand on her shoulder halting her movements. She turned around and raised a brow, confused as to why we stopped.

"Yes?"

"Do you know why the Alpha king wants to see me?"

She shook her head before speaking.

"I only follow orders, I don't ask questions as to why."

she said before continuing in the direction of the office.

When we reached the same door from earlier she just bowed before walking away.

I sighed heavily before knocking on the door.

"Come in," said a gruff voice from the other side.

I rested my palm on the door as I closed my eyes preparing myself for seeing him twice in one day. I can do this. I gripped the door knob and pushed it open before walking in.

My gaze immediately met his as I entered.

I cleared my throat feeling the effects of having your mate so close, yet so far. I needed to fight this bond if I planned to leave here in a weeks time. I averted my gaze and bowed before straightening my posture and looking past his head avoiding eye contact.

"Alpha Axel, you called?"

I could feel his gaze burning holes in the side of my head as he stayed silent. The intense vibes coming off of him was making me uncomfortable, yet it made my wolf purr in delight.

"Nevaeh," was all he said before he appeared in front of me.

I gasped in surprise not expecting him to be so close. I could see every definition of his features that were more prominent now that he stood only a mere inch away.

He wrapped an around my waist and pulled us flush against each other. I growled and pushed away from him putting distance between us.

"Alpha Axel that is highly inappropriate," I said as I glared at him.

He raised a brow at my tone before taking a step towards me.

I took another step back not wanting him anywhere near me.

"What do you want," I said through gritted teeth, feeling myself getting annoyed he wouldn't stop.

"Why deny something that is destined before you even knew what mates were," he said lowly as he stared at me.

His brown eyes held curiosity as I stared at him in disbelief.

Is he serious!?

I looked around the room looking to see if anyone else is in the room. He must be talking to me since no one else is here.

I glared at him taking a step towards him as I poked him in the chest.

"You think you have the right to say that to me. Your asking me why I would deny you," I said exasperated.

He tilted his head as if he didn't understand what I was saying.

I swear my hand twitched wanting to slap him upside the head for his idiocy.

"You.Have.A.Chosen," I said emphasizing each word.

"Your point is..." he said letting the sentence hang.

I gave him a deadpanned stare before growling in irritation.

"Your unbelievable!," I said as I stormed towards the door.

"Thanks," He said with a smirk.

"And not in a good way," I stated when I made a move to reach for the doorknob.

Before I could open it, I was grabbed from behind and pulled back into the warmth of his arms. I felt every inch of him as he pulled me tighter against him. My back was basically glued to his front. I shook from the chills that coursed through me and clenched my fists fighting against the pull.

"Let go of me Axel" I said through gritted teeth.

I felt his lips against my neck causing me to whimper. I slumped in his hold allowing myself to bask in the comfort of our mate. Even if it was just for a moment.

"Nevaeh," he whispered as he placed a kiss behind my ear.

"Such a beautiful name," he said as he trailed his nose along my neck.

Before I could say anything we were interrupted by a knock on the door.

I froze when I heard the voice behind it.

"Axel?"

I grabbed a hold of his arms and removed them from my body as I walked towards the window looking out into the forest. I sighed heavily, disappointed with myself at what just happened. I shouldn't allow him to touch me when he is promised by another.

I heard him clear his throat before he allowed her to enter.

I turned around forcing a smile on my face when Delilah walked in. I had to admit she was beautiful. Her red hair glistened in the moon light accentuating her vibrant green eyes. I bowed my head in respect before looking at Axel.

"Did I interrupt anything?" she asked as she looked at the both of us.

Before Axel could reply I intervened.

"Yes..." he began.

"No not at all, we are done here. If you'll excuse me I must go."

"Nevaeh..."

"Goodnight Alpha," I said interrupting him as I hurried out of the room.

As soon as I found a maid to direct me to my room I leaned against the door and clenched my chest as I desperately wanted the ache to go away.

The hollowness within me was building since I laid eyes on Axel. This hasn't happened since Elena died. I was never good with emotional pain so I turned to physical pain to overcome the mental pain.

I cried knowing I could never have him. He is promised to another. No one would ever understand the pain of not having their mate, unless they actually had one.

I gripped my chest and grabbed a cloth from the bathroom. I climbed into the bath tub and ran the cold water as I sat there thinking before I extended my claws.

"You shouldn't start this again Nevaeh. Remember what happened last time," rang the voice of my concerned wolf.

"I won't go over board this time," I whispered as I stuffed the cloth in my mouth and sunk my claws into my shoulder.

My screams were drowning in the cloth preventing me from being heard. I clenched my teeth on the cloth as I saw the blood start to seep out from the wounds. Tears escaped me as I whimpered.

I retracted my claws and slumped in the tub as the cloth fell out of my mouth. The blood flowed down my arms blending in with the cold water as I watched, not having the energy to do anything about it.

My eyes grew droopy as I let darkness consume me.
